Advertisement – Caretaker (Maintenance/Grounds) Applications are invited from suitably qualified and able individuals to maintain the property, equipment and grounds at Shirley Boys’ High School to a high standard, and to keep them in an attractive, safe and clean state at all times. Good time management skills, a sound understanding of H&S requirements, initiative and an ability to work with a wide range of people required. The position is full-time, fixed term until 12 April 2019. Applications close at 4.00pm on Monday 2 October. Application closing date extended to 4.00pm on Monday 16 October. 2. Method of application

3. Referees

Please include in your application the names and contact details of two people who may be contacted to act as referees.

4. Short-listing and interview Short-listing of applicants and interviewing will be the responsibility of the Appointments

Committee.

5. Commencement of duties The position commences as soon as possible.

6. Tenure This position is fixed term until 12 April 2019. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, 7.30am to

4.00pm. The appointee may choose to become a party to the School Caretakers’ and Cleaners’

(including Canteen Workers) Collective Agreement https://education.govt.nz/assets/Documents/School/Collective-Employment-Agreements/Caretakers-and-Cleaners-Collective-Agreement/School-Caretakers-Cleaners-and-Canteen-Staff-Collective-Agreement-2017-2019.pdf or to be employed on an Individual Employment Agreement.

Should the appointee indicate a preference for the Collective Employment Agreement they should indicate that they have nominated E tū as their bargaining agent and are therefore eligible to join this agreement.

Should the appointee wish to be employed on an Individual Employment Agreement, the details of the agreement will mirror the School Caretakers’ and Cleaners’ (including Canteen Workers) Collective Agreement.

7. Remuneration The remuneration offered will be at a point on the School Caretakers’ and Cleaners’ (including

Canteen Workers) Collective Agreement pay scale appropriate to the position and the appointee’s qualifications, training and experience.

8. Police Vetting It is mandatory under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 to check that all persons employed at the

school are suitable to work in a position of trust with children and young persons. Therefore, any appointment will be dependent on the school obtaining a suitable Police Vetting Report prior to employment commencing.
