API 6A718 Work Group on Addition of Nickel Base CRAs
API SC6 Winter 2012 Meeting
Paul Maxwell
Objective• Provide requirements for Age Hardened Nickel
Base alloys used in the manufacture of API 6A or ISO 10423 pressure-containing and pressure-controlling components to assure they are not embrittled by the presence of an excessive level of deleterious phases and meet minimum metallurgical quality requirements.
• These additional requirements include detailed process control requirements and detailed testing requirements.

Hardness Requirements
To Be Done
• Review of Chemistries, Heat Treat Procedures and Mechanical Properties
• Decide Whether Mechanical Property Requirements Need to be Size Dependant
• Develop an Appropriate Hardness Conversion Table
• Develop Grain Size & Microstructure Requirements including Photomicrographs for Reference
• Determine Whether Additional Testing will be Required for High Strength 718
Next Meeting Anticipated to be in April
