Architecting

By Thomas .O

' Why don't you start building', they ask me ?

'So many bourgeoise toilets to be made,

In houses ever larger,

sometimes even up to four.'

'Not that we know', they said,

'To make Architecture

Out of mythical aam aadmi dreams - all mass produced,

Or to posit the good life, when desire is dead.'

‘But make it look well and good,

With all the toilets functional,

And every space well behaved,

then perhaps… perhaps you will get paid.’

‘Then make sure you get pictures clicked,

Dazzling, sizzling, anti-septic (no people),

And by architecty magazines get published,

With a few lines of concept uttered’

‘Contemporary !, Traditional !!, Traditional !! Contemporary !

Keep repeating over and over’, they drone,

Repeat! ‘ Light ! space ! modern ! contemporary!,

Contemporary- traditional !, traditional – contemporary !’

‘You may think we’re out of ideas, out of rhyme with time,

But architecture is about building

And you’ve no buildings to claim,

No building, no fame. So lame !
