Kerala to set up IT hardwareinnovation zones: Minister

"The state govern-ment is now working onsetting up innovationzones in the state andhere the emphasis wouldbe given to the hardwareindustry because this is asector where the countryis relying heavily on im-ports. Innumerable jobswill be created for techni-cal professionals in thissegment," the ministertold reporters here.

"Innumerable jobs willbe created for technicalprofessionals in this seg-ment," he said.

The 285 IT companiesin the state employ40,521 employees in lo-cations such as Kochi,Kozhikode andThiruvananthapuram."Now we have decided togive the nod for small ITparks which wil l nowcome up in the privatesector," he added.

The IT industry inKerala has clocked a turn-over over $1 billion.
