The Baden-Powell Scouts’ Association
Traditional Outdoor Scouting for the 21st Century.
Presented at the National AGMOn 8th October 2011
After 40 Years We Face:
• Increased competition for young people’s time.• Increased demands on the professionalism of
leaders.• A recession economy putting pressure on leaders
and parents finances.• A world of declining natural resources and
increased materialism. • While growing slowly we find it difficult to
articulate our vision for the future and stimulate growth actively.
Passionate
That we represent a unique and compelling set of values and practices to
make a significant contribution to maximising the future development and
happiness of young people.
Vision & Strategy Process
• All GSM’s and NC members asked questions : – how they perceived us today – where we should go in the future.
• 6 key areas identified.• NC members completed questionnaires that
explored them.• Finally work groups formed to develop
implementation plans.

leaders and adult helpers.
