BETTER DESIGN THROUGH TECHNOLOGYA COMMITMENT TO LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY IS ONE OF THE CORE PRINCIPLES UPON WHICH ENTUITIVE WAS FOUNDED. WE MAKE EXTENSIVE USE OF BIM SOFTWARE IN ALL PROJECTS AND LEVERAGE PARAMETRIC MODELLING AND OTHER TECHNOLOGIES TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY, LOWER RISK AND PROVIDE MORE VALUE TO CLIENTS.

BIM

To ensure a smooth and collaborative team dynamic, we drive project efficiency with our digital capacities. Built on our fluency in two key BIM platforms in the industry, Revit and Tekla, we have developed routines to translate information between them to facilitate easy coordination of details and communications across the team. This capability adds value for our clients, allowing us to provide Tekla and/or Revit models for the construction process. The result is better-coordinated designs, fewer contractor Requests for Information, expedited production of shop drawing and fabrication, and therefore reduced construction schedules. It also reduces the risk of unforeseen conflicts on site.

PARAMETRIC MODELLING

From twisting high-rise towers to complex curved facades, we use parametric modelling and generative design to enhance traditional engineering processes and allow for more creativity, efficiency and optimisation of design solutions. Parametric models using software like Rhino 3D, Grasshopper and Dynamo allow for the quick study of many forms and design options.

Creating linkages between parametric modelling software and our analysis and finite analysis programs (SAP2000, Ram Steel, SAFE and ETABS), Entuitive has been developing methods to allow engineers to rapidly explore structural solutions through real time manipulation of geometric forms all while ensuring the structural framing reflects the architectural vision. Performing structural analysis during conceptual phase allows the team to develop a high level of confidence that concepts which are being developed are structurally feasible, efficient and cost-effective.

Mike Lembke B.Arch.Sc., P.l.(Eng.), Leed® APPrincipal, Building Envelope

Michael is co-leader of Entuitive’s global building envelope services team, and manages the building envelope group locally in the Vancouver and Calgary offices. His expertise includes the design and construction of building envelope systems for new buildings, and restoration of existing buildings and heritage buildings. Michael has over 17 years’ experience in building envelope consulting on projects throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, including the commercial, residential, healthcare, institutional, sports, cultural and retail sectors. Michael is recognized by his clients as a dynamic leader who provides sound, progressive insight to help develop and achieve sustainable, building envelope solutions. He thrives in a team atmosphere, where close collaboration with clients and the design team results in solutions that equally benefit the project, client and end user.

Julien Fagnan Ph.D., P.Eng. Principal, Structural

Julien has significant experience leading projects in a broad range of sectors, including residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, cultural and transportation. With over 25 years of structural engineering experience, Julien enjoys new challenges, and isn’t afraid to think outside the box when it comes to seeking innovative solutions. Julien’s diverse structural experience includes the Richmond Olympic Oval Roof (Richmond, BC), Simon Fraser University Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering Building (Surrey, BC), the Mountain Equipment Coop Head Office (Vancouver, BC), Arena Stage (Washington, DC), the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum (Grand Prairie, AB), and the renovation and seismic upgrade of numerous buildings, including those in Vancouver’s historic Gastown area. In addition to having built a reputation for being a strong collaborator and delivering creative engineering solutions, Julien has deep technical expertise, particularly in the areas of heavy timber building design and seismic engineering.
