Construction A removable, metallic pump
pull-out unit is within a
concrete volute. Below the volute, the suction
bell is connected to a pre-formed intake suction box.All are prefabricated concreteelements.
A manhole permits impellerinspection without removal ofthe pump unit.
Bearings and sealing systemsare easily accessible via thespace under the motor-gear
support. Square volute discharge
connection is designed intothe discharge channel or con-nected to a discharge pipelinethrough a transition piece.
The transition piece is groutedinto the surrounding concreteof the pumping station.
Pump pull-out unit is installedwhen civil work is done.
Pump Pull-out UnitThis unit consists of a pumpcover utilizing a radial bearinghousing and a bearing pedestal.These contain the top bearinghousing with a spherical rollerthrust bearing and a radial rollerbearing. The spherical rollerthrust bearing is oil lubricatedand is provided with an oil levelgauge; if necessary an oil-wateror oil-air cooler can be applied.Both radial bearings are grease
lubricated. The statically bal-anced impeller is flanged to theimpeller hub, which is shrinkfitted to the shaft.
Longer Mean TimeBetween PlannedMaintenance (MTBPM)
MTBPM of over fiveyears is realized as nobearings are in contactwith the water. Theroller bearing insidethe pump cover isdesigned for a lifetimeof over 100 000 hours.

Pump DrivePumps may be driven directlyor through a gearbox. In the
latter case, the pump shaft isconnected via two spacer typeteeth couplings to the driver,thereby avoiding misalignment.The electric motor and thepump each has an axialthrust bearing.
