Buddies Team Winter 2012 AIESEC in Itajubá
It’s good to be, It’s good to be a Buddy! Being buddy is fun, cool and simply wonderful!
Initial Regards, Being a buddy of a trainee is one of the best AIESEC experiences one can have. It’s a very enriching full international experience by the end of which, you will have a friend from a completely different country and culture! The amount of learning and exposure you can get through this is simply amazing. You get a sense of the similarities and differences that exist in different cultures and you also begin to observe and appreciate things about your own country which you would have never even thought about. Alright so, right from the time you pick them up from the bus station and do all you can to make their stay here comfortable, a very sweet bond is established. I already was a trainee and my buddy had essential contribution in the quality experience of my internship. This experience was just incredible during all my internship. Having learnt so many things about different cultures from my friends, I picked up a few phrases from other languages and valuable insights. I have been on so many fun travel excursions and discovered so much. It has helped me tremendously in understanding other completely diverse perspectives and this is the experience which I cherish the most and only by being close to them, you get the best of them and you earn a good friend who waits for you in his native country whenever you want to take a trip. I could have never imagined being friends with about 40+ people from over 8 countries, and really cool people to have known. I experienced all of this and more right there in the city I was and the learning has been exponential. It has changed me as a person, altered the stereotypes I had built in my head, my perception about people travel and living. And just remember that ‘You’ as a buddy are the face of our whole country for the intern so your approach towards them must be warm and friendly at all times. So, everybody is ready ? Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Welcome to the Best,Funniest,Coolest Team of this Winter 2012!!!! Buddies Team Winter 2012 ! What are you are expected to do? What will you gain? Why is it such a great experience? Remember what AIESEC can provide The most EPIC international experience!Yeaaaaah We’re pretty sure that you know by now that AIESEC is the world’s largest organization run for youth. But here’s the coolest part - being in AIESEC, you have an opportunity to be friends with a completely new, very cool person from a totally different country! You can learn a new language, experience a new culture, and maybe even visit a country where you now have a friend. Your international experience starts NOW! How I am so important To your country: You will create the first impression that your trainee buddy will have of Brazil. To your LC: You will be fostering International Relations! To the intern: Every exchange is a life changing experience. You will be a very integral part of making this happen for your trainee friend! And most importantly, you have to show the world how cool Itajubá is! ….so I am Buddy, what is my role? A friend. The person who will contribute the most to their international experience here. The primary point of communication between the LC and the intern. The guide of the intern, the only friend right from the beginning. buddy I am a Buddy! So, what are my jobs?

Who will be tracking my work? The Service and Delivery Team will track the Buddies Team to keep the quality experience of the trainee’s internship. You should report for Service and Delivery Team any problem with the trainee or host family. Why being buddy is cool? It’s an amazing possibility to have international friends and improve your English and Spanish and eventually learn an exotic language! There is no better way to learn so much about foreign culture, language and customs. Think of being buddy as not only having fun, but also a good way to gain valuable experience! Who exactly a buddy is? It’s a person responsible for intern in hosting Local Committee. Main responsibility is to keep in touch with intern, give some basic information about living in Itajubá and integrate intern with LC.
What are the responsibilities of buddy? First thing that a trainee buddy does is picking up the intern from train station or city center after his/her arrival to Brazil. Don’t worry if you can’t pick up the intern from the airport, just be sure that your trainee knows how to get to the city center and meet him or her there. Other important thing is to help trainee to adjust to a new city. Trainee buddy should help with buying first tickets, getting a brazilian telephone number, learning which bus to take and so on. Buddy should know the most important information about intern and his/her stay in Brazil. Buddy is obliged to inform intern about Local Committee events. As a buddy, you should also think about organizing some events for your trainee- for example a nice party or a city-tour. It will take just one day and you will have a new friend grateful for good time spent together. Interns are quite independent, but buddy is especially important during the first days. Remember that being a trainee buddy is not being a babysitter! It’s a great opportunity for everyone who wants to be involved in exchange life in Itajubá. Are you ready to xChange lifes? The work has already begun ! Let’s rock together guys and provide the best time ever for our trainees …Because together we stand higher
