Principal’s Message
Year 5/6 students had a fantastic time at the Lake Keepit Camp last week. They were provided with all types of fun challenges including canoeing, abseiling and the mud challenge. The students are to be commended on their excellent behaviour and their willingness to involve themselves in the opportunities presented to them. A big thank you to Mrs Light and Mrs Dezius for accompanying the students and enabling them to have this wonderful experience. Congratulations to all our award recipients at assembly this week. A big congratulations to our Gold and Silver PBL students. On Wednesday 11 December to recognise our Gold and Silver students consistent display of Responsibility, Respect and Involvement we will be holding a fun day. Congratulations to the following students; Zander Bradbery, Madison Smith, Kadie O’Grady, Gavin Little, Andrew Fox, Asha Bradbery, Kaydee-Maree Turner-Smith, Kayley Smith, Olivia McLennan, Maddison Harper, Sarah O’Grady, Hannah Palmer, Tahleah Gleeson, Dakota Bradbery, Elise Smith, Thomas Henley, Jaiden Gleeson, Luke Berry, Ada Lawton, Jayden Groth and Shania Kruger.
Preparations for the school fete are being made. Thank you to everyone for the donations and offers of help. We welcome all support. The money raised will go towards subsidising educational opportunities for our students affected by the drought. The coming weeks will be very busy. Next week four students will be attending the City- Country Leadership Alliance Camp in Sydney with Mr Sowden. Preparations are being made for Presentation Night which will be held on Thursday 5 December. On Tuesday 10 December Year 11 and 12 2020 will be attending a Retreat Day at the Bundarra Sport and Rec Centre. The Year 6 Celebration Assembly will take place on Thursday 12 followed by their Day Out at Shake Rattle and Bowl on the Friday. Once again on Monday 16 December Years 3 to 12 will be having an end of year celebration at Green Valley Farm and K,1,2 will be having fun day at the Armidale Sport and Rec play centre.
I am looking forward to sharing these occasions with everyone as we head towards the end of a year that has been packed with opportunities for our students.

5/6 students thoroughly enjoyed the activities they participated in at Lake Keepit. They started the week with kayaking, canoeing, the monkey climb, target archery and cross country archery. The highlight of the week was the Kommando Keepit Mud Obstacle course. Students were quite muddy even in drought conditions. During free time the students spent time bonding as a class playing court games and swimming along with the slip and slide down a big hill. All students managed to design a water raft with 2 groups being successful with theirs by transporting themselves and their sleeping bags across the pool. The whole week was about learning to be resilient in whatever they do developing the skills of persistence and perseverance.
Students K-6 had a great experience at the gymnastics on Wednesday. Gymnastics is a strand of the PDHPE syllabus and without the grant to pay for this quality instruction students would not be able to complete this at school. This is a sport that requires a Level 0 instructors certificate or higher to be able to teach this strand. Sport and Recreation grants will be available next year again and we will apply for the gymnastics grant again to lessen the cost families have to pay for instruction. Students will attend the gymnastics centre for their second visit on Wednesday November 27. Anyone who didn’t attend the first one may do so by paying the $10 bus fee and hand in the permission note to teachers. This week brings to a close the Preschool/Kinder Transition program for the year. We look forward to having the 6 students join our school next year. This term has provided the students with an insight into big school and how it operates both in the classroom and in the playground. Our preschool students have become very confident and are fitting in like they have been here all year. A huge thankyou to Ms Sinclair, Mrs Berry, Ms Connors and Mrs Darby for supporting the students to make their new environment a happy place to be. Year 6 into 7 will have another transition experience day on Tuesday November 26. Students are looking forward to working with the secondary teachers and finding out what is involved in the lessons. Their first day was a great fun day working with teachers that have not taught them yet. One students’ response was “can’t wait to get to Year 7”.

Congratulations to all students
The end of the school year is approaching fast. K/1 have been very busy preparing their speeches for our Week 8 assembly. Students welcomed their grandparents and guests for our Grandparents morning tea. We had a fabulous Science morning testing and experimenting before sharing a lovely morning tea catered for by Mrs Stanford and the hospitality students. This week was our first of two trips to Armidale to participate in Gymnastics at the Armidale Gymnastic Centre. Students had a great time as they practised their gymnastic moves. I am in the process of organising our end of year excursion, notes will come home soon.
