Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE)Description/Summary of Program Requirements• The Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) is a laptop PC based simulation system capable of emulating organic and

supporting Infantry Battalion weapons systems and training scenarios to facilitate T&R based training. Its portable configuration allows Marines to train in areas where there are few options for training; garrison, aboard ship, at remote location, and deployed. DVTE training includes language and culture training, platoon and squad level tactics, employment of support arms, and various Recognition of Combatants (ROC packages).

• This procurement will provide software development and post deployment software support to provide annual software releases for Virtual Battlespace Two (VBS2), Combined Arms Network (CAN), and other software applications on DVTE. This development supports 348 fielded DVTE suites CONUS and OCONUS.

• Funding constraints have led to the re-prioritization of DVTE software development and maintenance efforts. As a result, the scope of the requirement has been significantly reduced. PM TRASYS is pursuing the use of DOD Warfare Centers to fulfill the abridged DVTE.

Improved Moving Target Simulator (IMTS)

Description/Summary of Program Requirements• The Improved Moving Target Simulator (IMTS) is an immersive, domed trainer, which provides

Marines the ability to identify, acquire, track and destroy targets individually or simultaneously

• At present the training systems utilized in support of these requirements are in a degraded state and in need of replacement to meet existing training requirements. This procurement is in support of these and newly documented training requirements, which call for a more robust training environment to include expanded libraries of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, manned and unmanned aircraft, cruise missiles, weather conditions, various counter measures and scenarios.

AtmosphericsDescription/Summary of Program Requirements• The United States Marine Corps (USMC) has an enduring requirement to enhance and upgrade existing and future USMC

Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT); Home Station Training (HST) areas and other Ranges. Currently, the existing MOUT and planned HST area facilities and surrounding range areas are void of cultural realism. Generally, MOUT and HST buildings and walls have similar facades and lack the real world exteriors, interiors, and surrounding areas representative of realistic foreign urban areas needed for vital and realistic mission rehearsals. This project is designed to simulate a future or current deployable urban environment and support the war fighting skills and improve training opportunities for Marine, tenants, and joint service units aboard USMC ranges.

• This procurement will continue to provide the necessary realistic foreign urban area atmospherics prop like items (furniture, faux foodstuffs, ersatz crops, billboards, courtyard walls, and mud brick façade) so that Marines can immerse themselves in the cultural realism of any given environment during their training exercises.

MCAGCC 29 Palms Role PlayersDescription/Summary of Program Requirements• This effort will provide USMC Home Station Training Role Players at MCAGCC 29 Palms. It will require the employment of

role players (RPs) to act as Foreign Language Specialists (FLS) and Civilians On The Battlefield (COB), insurgents, terrorists, and other personnel encountered in the intended theater of operations; as well as the replication of battlefield effects and inclusion of props. This training supports TECOM directed Pre-Deployment Training Program (PTP) and Alternate Training Venues for Commanders

• Role Playing efforts allow Marines to interact with culturally correct personnel during training. Exercise Planning tools are currently in development by the Range Modernization and Transformation program that will additionally track second and third order effects of interactions with role players there by adding even more depth to their present roles. These efforts help Marines better understand small and large cause-and effect relationships in operations and reinforce all aspects of cultural training delivered by other training venues
