Zeus: God of What?
● Zeus was the King of the gods● The god of sky● The god of weather● The god of law, order, and fate● The god of thunder
What powers did Zeus have?
● Zeus was the most powerful Greek god.
● Most famous power was the ability to throw lightning bolts.
● He had a Pegasus that carried his lightning bolts.
● Can control the weather and cause huge storms.
● He could mimic peoples voices● He could shape shift.
Birth and Saving of Zeus
● Zeus is the youngest of all of the Olympian gods.
● His father, Cronus, had eaten all of his brothers and sisters.
● His mother, Rhea, didn’t want Zeus to get eaten.
● She went to Earth and gave birth to Zeus on the island of Crete.
● She tricked Cronus, and he ate a bag of rocks instead.
● Later Zeus would take over as king of the Olympian gods.
Applying Zeus to Culture
● Zeus was the most important deity of ancient Greece.● He is important to culture because he was the most
powerful god, so people could look up to whom as an idol.● Every culture believes in something and the gods were
Greece’s way of explaining why things happen in the world.
