Last Day of School!!! May 23rd
May 2013
Hope you are out enjoying the warmer weather after the crazy snow we had at the first of the month. I can’t believe we are approaching the last day of school. I know all the students are ready for summer; they are counting down the days. Are you ready?
With the 2012-2013 school year coming to a close, I am happy to announce that the Cambridge Elementary PTA was instrumental in the completion of educational and exciting events and look forward to continuing the adventure next year. It has been my absolute pleasure to serve with this PTA team and
Cambridge staff.

Salad lore traces back centuries to simple vegetable dishes of the Roman Empire. Today salads are made with crisp greens, delectable pastas, luscious fruit and flaked seafood. Serve up a salad buffet. Visit a produce department for green variety. Romaine, leafy lettuces, cabbage and mustard leaves add extra vitamins and color to traditional iceberg lettuces. Put out washed greens with dishes of vegetables like sugar peas, grated carrots, raw broccoli florets and cauliflower chunks. Choose cherry or small tomatoes for easy handling. Put chilled salad or soup bowls out for your family. Make it a build-your-own-salad event.
How to identify a Stroke: A stroke can be a very serious health concern. Without fast action, and the proper care, stroke can lead to long-term health effects, blocked blood flow, long-term disability and even death. If you feel that someone you are near is suffering from a stroke or in the early stages, think quickly and ask him to do the following three things: smile, raise both arms, or speak in a complete sentence. Should there be any confusion, numbness, or sudden headache, call for care immediately by
contacting the emergency room, or 911.
Fun Recipe
DIP CONTEST — Kids will try anything – even loads
of raw veggies – if they get to vote or play a game.
So try this:
• Dish out 3 kinds of dip (hummus, Greek yogurt
dip, fruity salsa, cheese sauce, bean dip, honey
mustard dressing, etc.) and a platter of cut
veggies.
• Say something like: “Today, you guys are judges,
and your job is to decide which of these dips is the
best! I need you to try each one, and then tell me
which is #1, #2, and #3, and then we’ll figure out
which is the winner.”
• Watch this table of kids gobble down broccoli
florets like you’ve never seen!

Note from the Editor:
I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the teachers and
PTA members who helped support this year’s Cambridge
Connection newsletter by submitting stories and pictures that
captured this year’s activities and events. I hope our readers
enjoyed each the newsletters and came away feeling more
informed. It was my goal to give more insight into our children’s
world, highlight our teacher’s achievements and to let you know
what an awesome job the PTA, teachers and staff do to inspire,
educate and make our children feel proud to be a Pirate! I hope
that goal was accomplished. Have a GREAT Summer!
