Case Study | The Shard

Opened in 2013, The Shard is home to office space, a hotel and a numberof bars and restaurants. One of those restaurants is Aqua, which is

located on levels 31 and 33 of the skyscraper. In 2017, they called in Hensalls,a group of building services companies, to update its BMS and they in turn,

turned to Syscom to assist with the two-floor fitout. The areas of focus were thekitchen plant and FCUs.

• Restaurant fitout on 2 floors - L31 & L33 for Aquashard and Hutong

• Interface new Trend System via MODbus to landlords Automated Logic System

A Trend IQ3 system was installed, alongside IQEcos for FCUs. Trend systems are designed to monitor and control heatingventilation and air conditioning, allowing Aqua to operate at optimum levels. To ensure the team at Aqua could monitor theenergy usage, the Trend System was interfaced to the landlord’s Automated Logic System via MODbus.

Completed in the space of just four months, the project operated to very tight deadlines and necessitated simultaneous workon both floors from start to finish.to the client’s satisfaction.

• Kitchen Plant and FCU• Trend IQ3 System and IQEco for FCU• Quick programme with simultaneous work on both

floors from start to finish
