• Implement a Layer 3 EtherChannel
• Implement Static Routing
• Implement Inter-VLAN Routing
&a$'groun(
Cisco's switching product line oers ro!ust support or I" routing# It is common practice to use only multi-layer switching in the distri!ution layer o the networ$% eliminating routers in all !ut special use cases% usually whena gateway interace is re&uired# oing so pro(ides many !eneits in terms o cost and managea!ility# In thisla! you will conigure Inter-VLAN routing on the multi-layer switches in your pod and then a Layer 3EtherChannel lin$ to interconnect them# )ou will urther conigure one o your access-layer switches tosupport !asic routing% and apply static routes so that there is simple path control#
Note* +his la! uses Cisco Catalyst 3,. and /0. switches running Cisco I1S 2,#./4SE I" Ser(ices andLAN 5ase images% respecti(ely# +he 3,. and /0. switches are conigured with the S6 templates 7dual-ip(8-and-ip( routing9 and 7lan!ase-routing9% respecti(ely# epending on the switch model and Cisco I1SSotware (ersion% the commands a(aila!le and output produced might (ary rom what is shown in this la!#Catalyst 3,. switches running any Cisco I1S :E release4 and Catalyst /0.-"lus switches running anycompara!le Cisco I1S image4 can !e used in place o the Catalyst 3,. switches and the Catalyst /0.switches#
