Vision of CNU
A multidisciplinary research university of education committed to build a strong nation.
Mission of CNU
To develop high-performing professionals and intellectuals proficient in generating new
knowledge toward a progressive and peaceful pluralistic society.
Course Description
This is an 8-unit course which focuses on the diagnostic procedures, nursing care,
medical and surgical management of psychopathophysiologic disturbances among
adult clients.
Goal
This course aims to equip students with knowledge in resolving issues of bodily
alterations focusing on the nursing perspective, the use of correct attitude in dealing
with clients with disease and or disorder and finally the refinement of skills in order to
apply quality nursing care.
Objectives
This course aims to provide BSN III students with the basic knowledge, attitude and skills
related to the study of the psychopathophysiological processes of diseases. This further
utilizes the nursing process as a framework for the care of the clients. Knowledge of the
psychopathophysiology will facilitate for formulation of nursing diagnosis and serve as
basis for quality nursing care.
Through this course, the Level III students will be able to synthesize and apply the
concepts, principles and skills in the nursing care management of adult clients.
Conceptual Framework of the Course
The nurses main responsibility is to focus care on the complexity of the human being.
The best way he can assure quality care depends on his in depth understanding of
nursing care and the familiarity of the disease process. Making use of Anatomy and
Physiology, Pathophysiology and Fundamentals of Nursing, a beginning student nurse is
exposed to the wide array of nursing care in different clinical conditions and will enable
them to initiate correct judgement on a specific condition.
Human Being is considered a tripartite being. Therefore caring is complex and differs
from each situation. Even if human being is complex, he maintains balance of these
components. In some situations wherein the balance is altered it creates disturbances in
the unity of the client’s general condition. The nurse being another person enters into

the scene and immediately detect any variances of the clients condition and creates a
series of steps called the nursing process and applies it to the patient. The nursing
process is thought to be a correct method in dealing with the clients experience of
health alterations. Once the problem is resolved or prevented and even if the issue is
not alleviated, the nurse goes back to the first step and start the process once again
until the client receive the optimal care and the health alteration is alleviated.

Assessment Criteria for the Requirements
The student is assessed according to:
1. Written Mid-term and Final Examination
At the middle and the end of the semester, and multiple choice examination
will be given to all students with 70% as the passing rate. The criterion for test
construction is focused application of nursing care in the field of nursing
practice.
2. Daily quizzes and quiz bowl result
3. Simulation exercises
4. Assignments and Group works
5. The grade is calculated on the following formula 40% on quizzes, 40% on term
examinations, 10% on Assignments and 10% on Group Dynamics. The final
grade of this subject is calculated based on 50% Midterms and 50% Final
Term.
