"Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking" Campaign
This campaign is a one year (July 2018 - July 2019) faith journey
in order to eliminate the remaining mortgage balance. By elimi-
nating the mortgage, we will be in a far better position to ad-
dress structural/maintenance needs inside and outside of the
church building, while at the same time meeting and expanding
our ministry opportunities for the church family and wider com-
munity. This is a journey of sacrifice and includes different levels
of giving. See pledge cards and envelopes in the entryway.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Library Ministry Book Discussion Group, formed in 2011, will launch a new book discussion in September of Mitch Albom’s book The First Phone Call from Heaven. This book was on the New York Times Bestseller List for over 205 weeks.
The following is a brief summary of the book. If you are inter-ested and want to have more information about the book prior to placing an order, a more detailed summary is available in the church library.
The First Phone Call from Heaven:
A page-turning mystery (novel) and a meditation on the power of human connection. One morning in the small town of Coldwater, Michigan, the phones start ringing. The voices say they are calling from Heaven. Their common message is that there is life after death. Is it the greatest miracle ever? Or some cruel hoax? As the calls increase, and proof of an afterlife be-gins to surface, the town -- and the world -- transform. Only Sul-ly, convinced there is nothing beyond this sad life, digs into the phenomenon, determined to disprove it for his child and his own broken heart.
Our book discussions are highlighted by not only sharing our views on the book but also spirited related discussion.
We welcome new members into our “Book Discussion Circle” when we resume in September. We normally meet on the sec-ond Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Our September date and location will be confirmed in August.
Orders for The First Phone Call from Heaven will be taken in the church library until Sunday, July 29, 2018. Cost $6.50.
