THE ASSOCIATION FOR INDIANA
MUSIC THERAPY SEMI-ANNUAL NEWSLETTER
In January 2014, The Association for Indiana
Music Therapy (AIMT) welcomed John Carpente,
Ph.D, MT-BC, LCAT to Indiana. He presented on
“The Individual Music-Centered Assessment
Profile for Neurodevelopmental Disorders (IMCAP-
ND).” Despite the inclement weather, many
therapists joined him in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
AIMT was able to offer 8 CMTES to each attendant
of the event. Each attendant also received the
“IMCAP-ND Clinical Manual”. Members of AIMT
received a $25 membership discount for
registration.
Many therapists missed the event due to the
weather. If you were unable to attend, but would
like an “IMCAP-ND Clinical Manual” AIMT is
currently selling them at a discounted rate of
$35.00 with a flat postage of $5.60. The total coat
with shipping is $40.60.

MUSIC THERAPY IN INDIANA
The Association for Indiana Music Therapy: News Letter Page 3
A Letter from the President:
As we all enjoy the warmth of summer, we
should take a moment to reflect on how far music
therapy has come in the state of Indiana. In just a
couple of years, our state has increased the
number of music therapy degrees available, our
national roster internship sites, state recognition
of music therapy, and our state organization’s
membership. In addition, we have drastically
increased the number of Board Certified Music
Therapists employed in Indiana! We have the
Indiana Task; our State, Regional, and National
Associations; our educational institutions and
YOU to thank for this amazing growth! We
make the most progress when we all work
together and thus I would like for you to invite
others to join our association.
As a member of AIMT, one can expect to stay
informed with legislative efforts, receive state
updates concerning music therapy guidelines,
obtain access to many inexpensive CMTEs every
year, depend on an organization to take your
concerns through the proper channels to get real
answers and reforms, collaborate and meet other
professionals, get access to the members only
area on the website, and have a VOICE! When
you join AIMT you help to support our efforts
and shape our journey to further music therapy in
Indiana.
I thank you for all of your inventive ideas and
dedication to this brilliant profession. I am very
proud to be the president of AIMT throughout
this evolution of our profession in Indiana and
welcome you all to contact me with your ideas.
AIMT new and improved WEBSITE:
Over the past several months, the AIMT website has undergone
a complete redesign in an effort to make it more user-friendly
both for the public and for the current/future webmaster. If
anyone has any job postings, music therapy events, or
announcements that need to be made, please send these to
Morgan Sparks at [email protected]. She
usually is able to get these posted within a day or so of receiving
them. She will also follow up after posting, so if she does not
respond within a week, please send again just in case she missed
your email. It is our goal to make sure everything on the website
remains as up-to-date as possible.
Coming Soon:
• ‘Find a Music Therapist’
Morgan will be compiling a list of all agencies/private
practices in Indiana that provide music therapy services. This list
will be available to the public. If your company would like to be
listed, please email Morgan the company name, the contact
person responsible for new intakes, counties served, and
population(s).
• Membership Directory
This will be available in the “Members Only” area of
the website.
• Online Payments
We have set up a Stripe account. When you register to
become a member or for a CMTE, you will receive an invoice
via email. This invoice will give you the option of paying online
directly from the invoice, or you may simply print out the
invoice and mail it with your payment.
If you have any suggestions for the website or
if you have any trouble accessing the Members Only
area, please contact me.
