THREE FORMS OF COMMUNICATION

Linear , Transactional and

Interactive.

Each will be explained.

There will be examples.

LINEAR COMMUNICATION

• The Sender gives out a message.• The Sender encodes the message. • The Receiver decode the message. • There is always a channel of communication.• Person receiving message doesn’t give feedback.

LINEAR = MUSIC

An Example of Linear Communication would be the Listener(receiver) listening to music

and not giving feedback to the Artist (sender).

TRANSACTIONAL COMMUNICATION

There is a free flowing

communication.

No one is in control.

Normally multiply messages.

TRANSACTIONAL=PHONE

CONVERSATION

An Example of Transaction Communication would be a Telephone conversation. There

is a free flowing communication with multiple messages.

INTERACTIVE COMMUNICATION

Both Sender and Receiver

are involved.

There is a two way flow of

communication.

Normally only one is giving

information and other

receiving.

INTERACTIVE= SOCIAL MEDIA

Social Media is a form of Interactive Communication One object/person is given out the information and one is

receiving.
