FROM FOOD AND BEVERAGEWow! What a wonderful turn out for our annual July 3rd celebration. I’ve been told we had one of the best rework displays in many years. The kids seemed to really enjoy the waterslide, bouncy house, dunk tank and karaoke with Annie and the big hit was Face Painting by Wagner entertainment. The BBQ served about 200 members throughout the day and we had approximately 240 people dance the evening dinner away with music from Chello. Look forward to some music in the 19th Hole in August, we are bringing in Cli Ritchie and Corey Rubin on select Friday nights. Dave Mussatto will continue to play the piano during Fine Dining on Saturday evenings.
Please help us welcome Whitney Faust as a new server and team member. She comes with a great deal of experience working in country clubs down south and will make a wonderful addition to the sta .
The following items Black Angus Prime Rib, Roasted Porterhouse and Strip Steaks are no longer available to be phoned in for pick up. You could place your order for these items to go when you arrive at the clubhouse so that these items are cooked to your preference and temperature.
As a reminder, please inspect your to-go food items prior to leaving the clubhouse. The sta takes great care to make sure everything is packaged correctly using clear lids and new larger to-go bags. However from time to time mistakes do happen.
Comment cards are available throughout both the Grille Room and 19th Hole. Please feel free to ll one out and drop o in the membership dues box located outside the Grille Room doors.
As requested by some members a new professional dart board has been placed in the member billiards room, darts may be signed out from the 19th Hole (must be over 18).
Please ask our bartenders and servers about our new line of Whiskeys and Rosé Wine: The Dalmore Series, Shackelton and Breckenridge along with a Kim Crawford Rosé.
Please make reservations with Sheila for Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and special events.

I am so grateful for all my family and friends who have expressed their sympathy and condolences; verbally, with cards, and with comments on Facebook. The food prepared for us by numerous friends was delicious and the donations made in memory of my mother were greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much.

Cliff is a humorist and loves to have a good time with new friends and old friends making them laugh and bringing everyone together for an event to remember. Sometimes it's a funny introduction to one of your favorite songs, or positive funny story. Industry-specifi c stories and jokes, or perhaps a new parody song with your company name or group. Cliff says "I do humor that is uplifting and funny but not at the expense of any one person or group. I don't have a Don Rickles bone in my body. I think it's more fun to have fun than it is to be making fun of someone else". From Elvis to Elton, Roy to Ray, Brooks to Broadway cliff sings the love songs to fun songs and songs everyone knows and maybe a few songs you have never heard of that may become one of your new favorite songs.

Boyz and Girlz of SummerThe mornings have been cooler with great thanks to the evening rains. It makes playing a little more bearable in the summer heat and humidity. Many thanks to Auggie for having our water fountains repaired to give us that much needed COLD water. Continue to hydrate and stop playing if you are feeling the heat. Play it safe.
Speaking of Rain…Thank you Auggie for your constant replacement of the rain washed Har-Tru material. Our courts at GlenLakes are well maintained and a great place to play. A couple more months and the rain slows down. I am sure Auggie will be happy with that!

Not much going on during the month of Aug on the course. Hot …Wet …Humid…
Suddenly December –January cold mornings looks pretty good !
A continued reminder to PLEASE keep golf carts on cart paths around tee boxes and greens! Golf carts should be NO closer than 30 feet from tees and greens. When driving on fairways or rough areas try to keep from driving in heavy traf c or worn areas!
Most damages to our golf course comes from golfer not lling divots, not raking bunkers, not repairing ball marks and driving on heavy worn areas. Please do your part in taking care of your course! If you have a handicap ag, you can park no closer than 15 ft from the green. Do not park in front of the green! Approach the greens from the sides or back, never the front! Do not drive golf carts between bunkers and greens!
It’s our course and we have an obligation to each other

What is the history behind "Veterans Day"?Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the rst anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or non-living—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
At GlenLakes on November 9th and 10th we will also be recognizing veterans with two very special events. A Veterans Appreciate Dinner in the Clubhouse with a cocktail hour from 4-5pm. A presentation of the colors and a salute to our veteran guests, and an incredible bu et will follow with entertainment and dancing. We will also be conducting a silent auction with many unique items. All items will be sold that evening after dinner with the proceeds going to DAV #67. Reservations will be available after September 1st so be sure to check the mail kiosks and the September issue of the EAGLE.
On Saturday, November 10 we will have our annual NATURE COAST GOLF SCRAMBLE at GlenLakes. Last year we had over 130 golfers participate. We will also have a "golfers" silent auction. All the proceeds from the golf event go to DAV #67 in Brooksville. We will start taking sign-ups after September 1st so be sure to check the mail kiosks and the September issue of the EAGLE.

For those who are not familiar with the GlenLakes Veterans & Friends Association, we are a group of over eighty veterans and family members who live in GlenLakes. UPCOMING EVENTS
OUR NEXT MEMBERSHIP MEETING IS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH AT 4PM IN THE CLUBHOUSEPlease mark your calendar for Thursday, September 6th at 4pm in the bar area off the ballroom in the clubhouse.
At this meeting will have a "Safety Always Matters" presentation. It will include what we as a Kayak Club do to ensure all our paddles are conducted in a safe and enjoyable manner. Included is what safety equipment we bring to each and every paddle. We will also go over what safety equipment you should bring with you if you have your own boat.
At the meeting we will also review our planned paddles for the fall paddle season.

We Did It!In March we had to reschedule our Hunter spring paddle due to inclement weather to June 13th. As you can see from the photos below we had a great time paddling and swimming in Three Sisters Spring. Special thanks to Greg Gregory and Lilly Molnar for the great pictures. (See more at www.glkc.shutterfl y.com)
If you are looking to have a fun time with "fun" people you need to think about joining us for one of our fall paddles. You don't need to be an experienced kayaker. In fact most of our members had never paddled before joining the GLKC. We provide helpful "safeties" on all our paddles.
Our next meeting is on Thursday, September 6th at 4pm in the Clubhouse. Please look for the notices in the mail kiosks and consider joining us. You also do not have to own your own kayak. Most of our members rent kayaks from the outfi tters we arrange to support our paddles. For more information contact Curt Reilly at 596-2737 [email protected]

“Summertime and the living is easy”, hopefully “easy breezy”. “Fish are jumping”, i.e. that I hope by the time you read this we are still enjoying ample rainfall, however, as the saying goes “be careful what you wish for”! The standing IRC board has nished its’ two year term. If I may, in speaking for those of us on the board and the membership itself, I would like to thank our president Doris Chiappetta for her hard work and effort in leading the club these last two years. We appreciate all you have done. Recognition and thanks must all go out to all our fellow board members and individual IRC members who have contributed their time to help make all events run smoothly and successfully. Grazie molto. We have all been honored to work so closely with this terri c club and experience rsthand the passion of its members. The word passion and Italian Renaissance Club bring to mind one person, Marie Franco, who herself works behind the scenes to motivate us all. We welcome our new president Helen Connors. We couldn’t have been more fortunate to have put in place a better successor as we move forward. If you have attended our past Trivia nights, you will undoubtedly agree with me as we have already come to appreciate her enormous capability. Bueno fortuna Helen! There is some important information to impart to you about the coming IRC events. Thursday August 9th at 5pm there we will be a sign up in the clubhouse lobby for our Porto no Bus Trip October 12th. The event is for members only and your membership must be current. Snowbirds please mail your membership and fee for Porto no by August 9th. Please check your incoming IRC emails and kiosks for further information on these events. Save the date: September 13th is our annual membership meeting. Old and new members can pay their dues. We will have sign-up sheets for volunteer help for our events and our calendar year will be discussed.Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer and look forward to seeing you at future IRC events.
