Tata Motors to continue productionof Nano for some more time

HYDERABAD, Sept 26:

Tata Motors has said it wouldcontinue the production of Nanocars for some more time as thevehicle has an "emotional con-nect" with the Tata Group.

"Nano plays an important rolein our PV (passenger vehicle)strategy because it is our onlyproduct in the entry hatchbacksegment, which is a very impor-tant segment from a first timebuyer point of view," a TataMotors spokesperson told PTI inan email reply.

"We regularly review ourproduct strategy and will certain-ly give an update in the months tocome. Till that time, we continueto produce Nano catering to cus-tomer demand in key markets,"the spokesperson said.

There have been discussions late-ly with regard to the future of TataNano, which was the brainchild ofchairman emeritus Tata Sons, RatanTata.

"There have been a lot of dis-

cussions around the future ofNano and the emotional connectwith the vehicle, leading to sever-al conclusions. No decision hasbeen taken on Nano yet as thiscannot be done in isolation.Decisions regarding any productwill be taken in context of theentire Passenger VehicleStrategy," the official said.

Meanwhile, Mayank Pareekpresident passenger vehicle busi-ness unit, Tata Motors, said thatby the end of next year, the com-pany's aim is to be among the top3 PV players in the domestic mar-ket. Pareek was in the city yester-day to launch Tata Motors latestSUV Nexon.

Tata Motors passenger vehi-cle sales has been witnessing apositive growth trajectory, withcompany sales growing at 22 percent in FY17, while the industrygrowth stood at 9 per cent.

According to Pareek, electricmobility preparedness will play acritical role in achieving sustain-able growth of the automaker.(AGENCIES)

Nissan rolls out redi-Go variant at Rs 3.69 lakh

NEW DELHI, Sept 26:

Nissan Motor India today launched Datsun redi-Go Gold withone litre engine, a limited edition variant of hatchback redi-Go,priced at Rs 3.69 lakh (ex- showroom).

The variant would be available from today at all Nissan andDatsun dealerships across the country, Nissan Motor India said ina statement.

"Datsun will make the festive season even more special for ourcustomers by bringing more power, style and convenience in theredi-GO Gold 1.0L limited edition," company's VP, Marketing andDatsun Business Unit, Jerome Saigot said. (Agencies)
