A FAIR ECONOMY – WE WILL:

DECENT HOMES – WE WILL:

A SAFE CLIMATE – WE WILL:

A PUBLIC NHS – WE WILL:

• Fight for a publicly funded NHS free at the point of use and end the creeping privatisation of its services.

• Make mental health a much higher priority with resources to match this status.

• End austerity and restore the public sector to create over one million good jobs. This will be paid for with a wealth tax on the top 1%, a Robin Hood tax on the banks and the closure of tax loopholes.

• A minimum wage of £10 an hour by 2020.

• Abolish the unfair Bedroom Tax.

• Build 500,000 new social rented homes and bring empty homes back into use.

• Introduce rent caps and longer tenancies for renters.

• Take serious action to ensure global temperatures do not rise further.

• Phase out fossil fuel based energy generation and nuclear power.

• Invest in renewable energy, flood defences and building insulation.

ABOUT THIS PUBLICATION This publication has not been paid for by big business or corporate interests, but has been supported and funded by ordinary people. Promoted by Ivan Dixon, The Old Schoolhouse, Canterbury Road, Wirksworth DE4 4GY on behalf of Ian Wood, Knighton Cottage, Cunningham Place, Bakewell DE45 1DD. Printed by Acanthus Press, Unit 21, Ryelands Farm, Bagley Road, Wellington TA21 9PZ.

IAN says ...I am a 58-year-old journalist and former lawyer. I live in Bakewell with my wife and two of our four children.

We Greens have a fundamental conviction that if humans behave unsustainably we will exhaust our planet. This colours every single policy we have.

We wouldn’t ask families to lumber themselves with a lifetime of debt just to educate themselves, or to over-borrow to live in decent housing, or to use payday loans to buy food and pay energy bills.

We’d stimulate local trade, create hundreds of thousands of green jobs, and make the living wage of £10 an hour the law.

Coalition tax revenues are low, to this Government’s surprise. The rich don’t pay their way, and the poor don’t earn enough for income tax. The Green Party would change all that.

On 7 May you can vote for a decent future. You won’t be alone, I assure you.
