Now choose a flower of your own and draw it.
After you’ve finished drawing, write a few sentences to describe the flower.
Get into your groups. Each group will get one flower picture
paper and cards. Group members take turns drawing a
flower card and reading the description. Other group members should listen
carefully and look at the flower picture paper.
The first person to guess the correct flower gets to keep that flower card.

RoseThis flower has a round shape. It is not big or small. It has a long stem. It is red and has thorns on it’s stem.

This flower has a round shape. It has long, thin petals and a thin stem. It is pink.
Morning GloryThis flower has thick, blue petals.
HibiscusThis flower has a long, thin trumpet. It has thick petals and a long, straight stem.
Blue JacketThis flower has a short, thick shape. It has many long and thin blue petals.
Sun FlowerThis flower has a tall, straight and thick stem. It has long, thick yellow petals and smooth oval leaves.
CockscombThis flower has a thin and short shape. It has many small, thin petals. It has a purple and pink color.
CloverThis flower has a small, round shape. It has short, thin petals. It has a straight stem and smooth oval leaves. It is purple.
WindAnimalsPropulsion
Fruits are eaten by birds and mammals. The seeds pass through the gut and come out in the animal’s feces. Some animals bury nuts to eat later and then forget about them.
Some seeds have parachutes. Some seeds have wings.
Bean pods dry out and then split. When they split they push the seeds (beans) away from the old plant.

Some plants grow in soil that has very little nutrients. They have evolved to get nutrients from insects and small animals. They trap animals and then digest them to get the nutrients from them. They are called carnivorous plants.
Venus Flytraps have small _____ inside their leaves. The hairs are _______. If a small animal touches the hairs, the leaves close and _____ the animal. The plant ______ it and absorbs the nutrients from the dead animal.
Venus Flytraps have small hairs inside their leaves. The hairs are triggers. If a small animal touches the hairs, the leaves close and trap the animal. The plant digests it and absorbs the nutrients from the dead animal.
Sundews have sticky tentacles. If an inset lands on one tentacle, the other tentacles on the leaf will move to wrap the leaf around the insect.
Sticky means that something holds on to a person, insect or thing. Think of tape.
Pitcher plants have special leaves shaped into _________ pools full of liquid that digest animals that fall in.

Slippery is the opposite of sticky. Slippery is when something is not easy to hold on to or stand on. Think of ice.
