Library News
Do you have any VHS training tapes or
DVDs in good condition you would like
to donate to the club library? Janet is
currently working on a project to convert
club-owned VHS tapes to DVD.
Also please look to your shelves to see if
you currently have any items belonging
to Oriole (VHS tapes, DVDs, books) that
need to be returned. We are missing a
few of the older, but still quite relevant,
VHS tapes such as the Silverton Utility
tape, and some of the Terri Arnold tapes,
etc.
Thank you to Francine Bethea
([email protected]) who has
volunteered to be the club’s librarian
to monitor loans and returns.

Fri.-Sun., Jan. 24-26 AKC Agility If you are interested in working at the AKC Trial contact Nancy Morris [email protected]
Thurs. Jan. 23-2020 We have to get our club equipment to the
trial. Richard Mathews will be bringing his truck and a tow behind trailer
to move the tables, chairs, gating, measuring wheels, etc. to the
trial. Help would be greatly appreciated. He anticipates arriving at the
building about 11 am on the 23rd.
Richard has a list from Nancy Morris, and even if you can't do any heavy
lifting there are a number of items that are easily moved. He would also
like a coordinator to check things off the list, and let people know what
else is needed.
Thurs., Jan. 23-2020 Setup - The trial chairs are looking for help
setting up at the Timonium Fairground for the 3-day trial on Thursday,
January 23rd at 4:30 pm. Please come help us set up the rings, gating,
tables, etc. for the trial.
If you are entered in the trial, you may place a marker for your crates
before helping and can complete the setup of your crating when the
unloading and basic ring setups are completed. Per the judging
schedule, the building opens for non-helpers at 5:45 will close at 6:30.
Sun., Jan. 26-2020 – Pack up/tear down of equipment back to club.
Please contact Nancy Morris ([email protected]) with any questions.
Sat., Feb. 8-2020 Show and Go Setup - we are in need of volunteers
that can assist with moving blue panels, building the rings on the agility
side, move jumps over and setting up some tables. This should not take
more than two hours.
Sun. Feb. 9-2020 Show and Go Trial- Judges and Stewards needed!
Volunteers are requested to be at the building by 9:00am and the first
dog registered starts at 10:00am. Usually we finish up judging
around 3:00pm, then we will need assistance to reset the panels and
obedience rings for Monday classes.

Obedience Show and Go February 9 We are in need of Show and Go Judges and Stewards on Sun., February 9th! Please send an email to
[email protected] by February 7th, if you can volunteer as a judge, steward in the ring or at the ring
table for the Obedience Show and Go.
To make this event happen, we need people who are willing to spend a few hours volunteering for one
of the jobs below.
Steward jobs: figure 8 posts, setting up bar and high jump heights, broad jump, placing gloves out, placing
articles out, table steward to keep entries flowing in and out of the ring. Those are the main duties that are
very simple to perform.
Judges job: Acting as the judge (with the understanding of the exercise routines) in the ring for each of the
exercises and keep each run flowing smoothly.
Lunch will be provided to the volunteers & you get a free run with your dog before we begin at 10:00am.
Volunteers are requested to be at the building by 9:00am and the first dog registered starts at
10:00am. Usually we finish up judging around 3:00pm, then we will need assistance to reset the panels and
obedience rings for Monday classes.
On Sat., February 8th at 3:30pm we are in need of volunteers that can assist with moving blue panels,
building the rings on the agility side, move jumps over and setting up some tables. This should not take
more than two hours. If you have sponsored someone as a provisional member, please forward this email
to them as this is an excellent way for them to earn their volunteer credits.
Thank you in advance from our Obedience Director, Sue Carlton
Shout-Outs!
Lots of good things happened in the building on January 2, 2020. Thank you to Janet Gauntt for organizing this event!
- Richard Mathews, Mike McKisson, and Derek Hall all successfully tackled the problem of the
door closer on the main glass door. (We don't know if it *really* took all three of them, but it was
fixed! :D)
- Richard Mathews, Mike McKisson, Janet Gauntt, and Derek Hall were able to tidy up the loading
dock area a bit by disposing of several items that had reached end of life.
- Cindy Deubler and Mike McKisson started preparing all
of our new "Jenny" tunnel bags by applying non-slip
rubber to the bottoms in preparation for the next step of
adding sand.
- Many, many hands made light work of some
maintenance we needed to do to the turf. First the turf
cleaning machine was run. Then after that cleaning pass, Janet Gauntt, Cindy Deubler, Felicia
Wynn, Derek Hall, Rosemary Hanes, Lorinda McKisson, Mike McKisson, Terry Herman, Sue
Augat, Linda Miles, Richard Mathews, Chelsea Singer all contributed to carry in and spread
additional rubber. Broadcast spreaders were used to add another several hundred pounds of
rubber to help restore some grip that is naturally lost over time as the rubber particles become
compacted.
- After all the rubber had been added, everyone formed a line across the field and walked slowly
across picking up and debris that had not already been
removed by the turf cleaning machine.
Following a pizza (and sparkling cider) lunch, several of the
work party stayed to test out the rejuvenated turf and the
improvement in grip was quite satisfying.
Many thanks to all who helped out!
Thank you to Betty Gardner, Jean Wilkens and Jo Kendig for handling all of the Annual Awards.
Thank you to Dale Martin and Betsy Plonski for preparing the luncheon food for the Annual Party.
Deb Knowles with Anna got her L2C (NACSW Level 2 Containers) title on December 15 in Halifax PA.
She had the third-fastest time overall in the four searches, out of 24 competitors. Only 13 of the teams
passed with a 100. I am inordinately proud of Anna's accomplishment, she will be turning 10 yrs old next
wk & I sometimes wonder if I should be retiring her (Anna says, "not yet"!)
Deb Knowles with Silver earned their NACSW NW2 title in Wirtz, VA on December 28. She also
exceeded my hopes and dreams by winning 1st place in Vehicles, and we even got a Pronounced in
Vehicles, Containers, and Interiors. Most unexpected of all, she was third fastest overall out of the 31 teams
for all searches combined. Thank you Linda and Don for the Thursday fall semester classes!
Desi earned her DCAT title this weekend in Courtland, Va! Yeah!
Marina Raukhverger with Rumba OHBIS BOSS RATCH GCH Firezone's Special Blend NW2 L1I BH
CDX SWN SCA SIA GN CA BCAT DM DSA AMX RA CGC TT, earned her NW2 title in December with 3rd
place overall and also Scent Container and Scent Interior Advanced titles.
Tiiu Mayer with Wei-wei have had a very busy year!! So busy I have not really been keeping up with
our brags so here they are all bundled up into a year-end review.
• Feb. 2019 Q in the Standard round at Westminster Master Agility Championship
• April 2019 C-ATCH 2
• July 2019 MFB, MJB, MXB
• Oct 2019 TQX

Monique Bocock share that in December, Khaleesi (Daenerys v. Adhem) and I competed in the 2019
AKC Agility Invitational in Orlando, Florida as she was ranked the number 5 Entlebucher in the
country. She qualified in Time to Beat for a total of 4 out of 5 clean runs for the weekend. We were clean all
the way up to the second to last obstacle of the last run where we had an off course to the weave poles of all
obstacles! She also ended the weekend as the top Entlebucher and earned a lovely medallion sponsored by
the breed club.
Tracey Luggiero and Mouse made it on the world team on 2020 WAO USA Team by getting the most
points for the Super Win On Spot and the Biathlon/Games Win On Spot. They will be competing in
Netherlands in May.
Also Mouse and Tracey won the Cup in our height at the Brilliant Dogs Southeast UKI Cup which
gives a bye for Finals and Master Series at the UKI US Open.
