The East Asia Core Observatories Associa2on (EACOA) is an alliance of four major astronomical research ins2tu2ons in East Asia dedicated to promote regional research coopera2on. Member ins2tutes of the EACOA are; the Na2onal Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Science (NAOC), the Na2onal Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), Korean Astronomy and Space Science Ins2tute (KASI), and Academia Sinica Ins2tute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA). The EACOA announces an opportunity for highly qualified individuals to apply for EACOA postdoctoral fellowships, star2ng in 2014, to conduct research in all branches of astronomy and astrophysics. Successful candidates will have an ini2al appointment of three years, extendable for an addi2onal two years (up to a total of 5 years), and are expected to develop independent research programs as well as to integrate with the exis2ng ac2vi2es at the EACOA member ins2tutes. Fellows are expected to work full-‐2me on their research programs, and to be in residence in at least two EACOA member Ins2tu2ons during the period of the Fellowship appointment.
Please see hUp://naoj-‐global.mtk.nao.ac.jp/EACOA-‐E/fellowship/program2014.html for detailed informa2on. The EACOA Fellowship is open to applicants of any na2onality, who have obtained their PhD in Astronomy or equivalent degree in the related fields within the last 5 years from the start of the fellowship tenure. For the year 2014 program, a monthly allowance of US$5,000 will be paid as a fellowship award and reloca2on expenses will be provided by the EACOA, through the NAOC. Also, research funds will be provided by the host ins2tutes. In addi2on to these, addi2onal support for travel, etc. will be available. Actual amounts of the research funds and the addi2onal supports are depending on the condi2ons set by the host ins2tute.
Applica2ons submiUed before or on 15 December 2013 will receive full considera2on.
Applicants should submit their applica2on documents and materials electronically as specified in the applica2on instruc2ons. Applica2ons must include leUers of endorsement from the host scien2sts confirming the research project.
