Descriptive Annex
1 INTRODUCTION
This pattern of a liquid measuring instrument is for measuring the volume of cold water which has passed through it. This is an inline multijet cold-water meter having a Q3 (permanent flowrate) of 1.6m3/h and a Q3/Q1 turndown ratio of 50 or 63. It is not designed to measure reverse flow. The meter is shown in Figure 1.
2 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The Carmel water meter uses the multi-jet principle. With highly reinforced composite body and top attachable register unit which is isolated from the water pressure, allowing it to be replaced while the meter is still connected to the line. Technical features:
• sealed super dry magnetic register
• 8 digits counter + 1 pointer (Figure 3).
• Or 6 digits and 3 pointers with Central "star" used for leak detection and
electronic testing (Figure 4)
• Rotatable register for convenient positioning of dial
• Register options:
o Dialog 3G with option for a "kosher" version which is not transmitting data
on Shabat. (Carmel GK ,Glatt Kosher).
o Electronic register (Carmel ER)
o Mechanical Register with 3 points (3P)
o Mechanical Register with 3G

4 PERIPHERAL DEVICES AND INTERFACES 4.1 Mechanical register with electronic 3G GK unit The register is similar to the standard mechanical register but contains an electronic 3G communication device for remote reading of the measurement. The transmission of measurement data using this device is not covered by this approval. This device is powered by two “AA” Tadiran Lithium batteries
4.2 Electronic Register The ER has no moving parts .The electronic sensors translates the impeller movement into electric signals that are processed by the microcontroller which calculates the partial volume, accumulated volume and the flow rate. The electronic register takes the power from two non rechargeable lithium batteries directly soldered to the PCB.
The approved firmware version is P07v02. It is possible to check the firmware version by means of display (just after reset) and by means of serial communication in the basic frame or using the Read_Version command.
4.3 Mechanical register with electronic 3G unit (Figure 5)
The register is similar to the standard mechanical register but contains an electronic 3G communication device for remote reading of the measurement. The transmission of measurement data using this device is not covered by this approval. This device has three variations; one powered by “A” cell batteries, the second powered by “AA” cell batteries and a third powered by Tadiran Lithium Batteries.

5 APPROVAL CONDITIONS The certificate is issued subject to the following conditions: 5.1 Legends and inscriptions The instrument bears the following legends: ‘CE’ marking Supplementary metrology marking Notified body identification number
Permanent flow rate Q3
Flowrate range Q3/Q1 (R) Serial number Manufacturers mark or name Certificate number 6 LOCATION OF SEALS AND VERIFICATION MARKS 6.1 Securing method The measuring assembly is secured by locating the snap fit plastic cover to the meter body. The register is positioned between the plastic cover and the meter body. The plastic cover and meter body have integrally moulded clips and once fitted, unauthorised dismantling is not possible without leaving evidence of tampering. 6.2 Location of verification markings (Figure 3) The verification markings identified in 5.1 are permanently etched on the dial face. 7 SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION 7.1 Carmel Document Folder: TRIM File TS02/0024/2 8 ILLUSTRATIONS Figure 1 Carmel Meters Figure 2 Sectional view of Carmel Meter Figure 3 Carmel Meter dial face and markings GK,ER Registers (8 digit + 1
