WRC-07 preparatory activities S-DMB is a typical “satellite component” of IMT-2000 WRC-07 Agenda Item 1.4: Requirements for evolutions of IMT-
2000, and systems beyond IMT-2000.• Emerging concepts (S-DMB, others): Satellite has an important
role to play in the future of IMT-2000• Satellite may not be suited for all mobile applications, but it is
excellent for some (multicast, coverage complement, reliable communications)
Technological evolutions• Trend towards integration between terrestrial/satellite mobile
systems: system, waveforms• Higher satellite power, bigger antenna technology enables
seemless terrestrial/satellite access on the same terminal !• The role of satellite should be fully recognised in WRC-07 A.I 1.4
preparation WP8F and WP8D cooperation should continue to enable
satellite to fully play its role in future mobile systems
Thank you for your attention !
