Section 62.169 (b) of the Los Angeles Municipal Code

Occupants Residential Parkway Landscaping Native Plant Program (RPLNPP) in the city of Los Angeles

Considering that a curbside is an underutilized strip of land between the sidewalk and the street, the regulations were a point of contention in lower-income neighborhoods, which often lack green space and access to fresh, healthy foods. However, urban farmers have reason to cheer. The L.A. City Council has voted to allow Angelenos to plant fruits and vegetables in their parkways - that strip of city-owned land between the sidewalk and the street - without a permit. Fruit trees, however, will still require a permit. LA City Council approves curbside planting of fruits and vegetables L.A. New City Ordinance: 183474, Sec .62.169. (b): In accordance with Section 62.169 (b) of the Los Angeles Municipal Code, “No permit is required by the owner of property fronting the parkway portion of the street in an area zoned for residential use in order for the owner to remove existing shrubs and plants and replace the shrubs and plants with landscaping, including edible plant materials...” owners or occupants of residentially zoned properties may install shrub and ground cover plant materials within parkways fronting their properties without the need to obtain a permit, while still being held responsible for maintenance.

California Poppy On March 2, 1903 the California poppy, Eschscholzia californica, became the official state flower of California (Ca. Government Code Section 421).

Algebra Works Civil rights issues: RE: food anxiety and being free to be out side. PROBLEM: ALGEBRA BY THIRD GRADE As Bob Moses, founder of the Algebra Project does; I see as the leading cause of high school and college drop out rates. The pressure of trying to pass Algebra somehow transforms or metabolizes into Prisoner's working for free on jobs they weren't allowed to come to in the free market. SOLUTION: ALGEBRA OUR WAY TODAY: Use of the project as bridge interface to poverty and food stability and the essentials of algebraic thinking, this project bridges logical thinking, math lessons and solving and implementing real life endeavors. For example, conflict resolution and innate creativity implementations and  we can think our way through the stepping-stones called tests. One objective is to inspire students who have trouble visualizing textbook examples using interactive models to demonstrate basic mathematical principles? At the same time kids problem solve using individual skills and group participation in the urban garden made available by the city of Los Angeles on residential streets as an exercise in working together for the common good. The bases for community development and cooperation is in the hearts of the children. Residential Parkway Landscaping -The garden-provides a plethora of opportunities to practice basic mathematical functions such as calculations, comparisons, and measurements using hands-on activities. In the garden, you can then translate collected data into a wide variety of charts, graphs, and reports. Unlike textbook examples that may not relate to students' experiences, math becomes both practical and relevant when students implement concepts they have learned in the classroom in a real-life garden setting. This is especially true when they see how applying math, such as calculating how many seeds to plant in a pot or determining the amount or the composition of soil to use, affects the growth of their plants and the ability to wok together for a common goal: beautiful food. Result: Baby does algebra! Baby can eat a healthy tasty fulfilling diet. Algebra is Art! Art is architecture. Architecture is a lifetime skill learned by participating in Residential Parkway Landscaping Native Plant Program (RPLNPP) in the city of Los Angeles.
