SUNIt is the center of the solar system
It is a star- a hot ball of glowing gas

Revolution
Definition: Going around an object once
The Earth revolves around the sun.
Each time the Earth revolves around the sun = ONE YEAR
Rotation
Definition: spinning around or turning all the way around on an axis one time
The Earth rotates on its axis (the north and south poles)
Each time the Earth rotates around = ONE DAY
![Page 7: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
AxisIs an imaginary line that goes through the North and South
Poles
Earth rotates on its axis
![Page 8: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Earth’s Rotation
Every 24 hours the Earth rotates (spins on its axis)
This is what causes day and night
Earth rotates counter clockwise
![Page 9: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Earth’s Revolution
Every year (365 days) is one revolution of the Earth around the Sun
This is what causes the different seasons
![Page 10: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Earth Rotates and Revolves around
the Sun at the same time.

Moon’s Rotation
18.61 years for the moon to make a complete rotation
![Page 12: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Moon’s Revolution
27.32 days long for the Moon to revolve
![Page 13: Edu653- 4th grade science](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022060122/5594e1de1a28abc4128b459d/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
