Four decades of breaking down barriersEF’s mission is simple: to break down the barriers of language, culture and geography that divide us. In the past 40 years, EF’s educational programs have helped people of all ages and nationalities become citizens of the world. Four decades of breaking down barriers.

Liz Clarke, English. Ms. Clarke’s passion for languages has propelled her across the globe, and she has taught English in several countries, including China, Italy, Portugal, Hong Kong and the UK. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Ms. Clarke’s enthusiasm challenges students to make giant leaps forward in English.

Bryan Heavans, mathematics. Mr. Heavans has taught at schools and colleges in the UK for 15 years, and he previously worked for several blue chip corporations, in addition to running his own company. Mr. Heavans is especially passionate about music.

Rachel Hawkins, business education. Ms. Hawkins has taught extensively in the UK and abroad. She is an examiner for the IB Organization and previously worked as an A-level examiner. Her business contacts help students gain hands-on experience.

Our students in Torquay choose between the prestigious A-Level Programme and the IB Diploma Programme. Both are demanding two-year curricula for students aged 16-19, leading to qualifications that are coveted by the world’s top universities. We also offer a one-year or one-semester High School Preparation Programme for students who want to enhance language skills and academic proficiency before embarking on the challenging A-Level or IB Diploma programmes.
