PARENTS WORKSHOP
Kasturi’s 20-year-old daughter is a person with physical disability. Like many parents,
she had apprehensions about sending her daughter to an unknown city for a job. She
was more concerned because her child is a girl with disability. Kasturi attended a
parent’s workshop at a local NGO (SEARCH) where she saw Sangeetha’s journey
through a video, who is also a girl with physical disability from the same locality,
employed in a distant city. She is not only independent but also supporting her family
financially. This gave Kasturi a hope for her daughter’s future. She felt that if
Sangeetha’s mother can give her daughter a chance to work in a city unknown to
them inspite of her disability, so can she.

EMPLOYERS WORKSHOP
“I had an employee who’s a PwD (Person with Disability) who couldn’t deliver due to
attitudinal issues. I assumed he had some problem, and it’s mostly gotten to do with
his disability. You’ve made me realize that everyone has got problems. Everyone has
abilities and inabilities. Everyone has attitude. I’ve 20 employees who’re not PwDs, 6
out of whom have serious attitudinal issues. Based on one experience I stereotyped
the entire PwD community and was biased against hiring PwDs. Thanks for the
realization. I will keep an open mind and continue to hire PwD, also influence other
employers to hire PwDs.”

ENABLERS WORKSHOP
We’re new to the sector. Though we’ve dedicated staff who’re visionaries, challenges
in PwD livelihoods are so huge that we’re not able to sustain. From mobilizing
candidates to providing livelihood opportunities, couldn’t understand why. This
workshop has helped us understand the root cause. We know the gaps, and our
focus areas. There’s a change in our language and perception of disability and
livelihoods. It has taken us to the next level.”
