Course Syllabus
Course Code / Title : ENT 102/ Business Policy and Strategic Management Credit Units / Hours : 3 UNITS / 3 hours per week
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge of integrating core business functions and overview of strategic management. Students will be provided with a number of frameworks and models to better understand how firms formulate, implement and evaluate plans and eventually come-out with well-thought strategies. During and after this course, it is hoped that students will understand and appreciate that strategic decisions affect the entire organization, and thus learn the importance of integrating the different disciplines such as accounting, finance, marketing, etc. Students will also be trained to develop their analytical skills, critical thinking, and written and oral communication skills. The end goal is for the students to be able to think strategically and integrate decision-making through strategy analysis, formulation, implementation and evaluation.
Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the students are expected to: 1. Describe and explain the concepts, theories and issues in identifying and formulating strategies to achieve short term and long term goals and objectives.2. Describe the ethical parameters for business policy makers3. Explain the environmental issues and trends for organizational strategy and effectiveness4. Examine critically and observe the different business policies and regulations which affect the business.5. Formulate effectively and recognize the challenges in managing an organization in a globally competitive environment.6. Emphasize, understand and apply the concepts of business policy and strategic management thru case analysis.7. Instill upon the students the Benedictine core value of work and excellence.
