Objective

To find out the age, sex and racial

distributions of WPW syndrome

among the multi-ethnic

Singapore population.

Clinical significance of WPW

syndrome study

Associated with high frequency of

arrhythmias.

It shows bizarre and misleading

electrocardiographic pattern.

Can be cured by catheter ablation.

Methods

A retrospective study done in all WPW syndrome

patients admitted in NHC for catheter ablation from

Oct ’1991 to Dec’03.

Statistical analysis by chi-square and cross

tabulation methods.

Accessory pathway is determined by

• History and physical examination

• Analysis of surface 12 lead ECG

• Intracardiac mapping by EPS

Conclusion

Male suffers more from WPW syndrome .

Highest incidence observed in 3rd and 4th

decade.

In Singapore LFW also topped the list

among the WPW syndrome pathways.
