Core Curriculum Electives MBA in General Management
The core curriculum, taken mostly in the first year, supplies an expansive set of new business frameworks and management
skills that can be applied immediately outside the classroom. As part of the core, all students participate in Global Study
Tours—weeklong international residencies in dynamic markets.
In addition to the core curriculum, students can tailor their MBA program based on their professional goals and interests
through choice of electives. Students also have the option of specializing in one or more areas of study. Whatever route you
take, all paths lead to an NYU Stern MBA.

A far-reaching perspective is a necessity
in today’s global business environment.
Stern’s Executive MBA program imbues students with
a broad business perspective that reaches beyond
their experience.
Executive MBA students may participate in two required
Global Study Tours: weeklong residencies that provide
exposure to other global business centers. Executive MBA
students explore the business practices of dynamic markets
through site visits and meetings with high-level executives
in key market industries, government representatives, and
members of the diplomatic community.
Each of the two international residencies is a faculty-
led three-credit course that is woven directly into the
core curriculum. Students embark on one trip during
their first year and one to a culturally and geographically
different locale in the second year. The Global Study Tour
preparation and experience are seamlessly integrated into
the coursework of the MBA program.
The global aspect of the curriculum is further enhanced
by the peer group with whom you are learning. Students
bring varied cultural perspectives to the classroom
dialogue through their extensive personal and professional
experience in other countries.

Executive MBA students have many
competing demands on their time,
whether it’s work, family, travel, or other
personal or professional commitments.
The Executive MBA program is structured to enable
students to earn an NYU Stern MBA while still keeping up
with their professional and personal priorities.
On-campus classes are held on Friday and Saturday every
other week to minimize required time out of the office. The
two-full-day format allows students to completely focus on
school life while they are with their classmates. Students
take only two courses at a time, on an intensive basis,
allowing them to master each new subject area before
moving on to the next.
Executive MBA students receive a high level of
individualized attention from both faculty and
administrative staff. From meals to class materials and
textbooks, our Student Services team manages the
logistical details so that students are free to focus on
what matters: work, life, and school.

“My Executive MBA experience at NYU Stern was wonderful. The professors exceeded my expectations and I am amazed by how much I grew. There have been numerous occasions when I’ve combined the skills I learned at Stern with my work as Mayor. Whatever
chapter is next will lead me to something I can’t imagine today, but I’m a firm believer in lifelong learning.”
