- UiB has used ED digitizers since around 1993
- Currently using old model EDM006 and newer model PS2400
- Digitizers have only been used with Seislog software
-Seislog for QNX-Seislog for Windows-Seislog for PocketPC
-A Seislog Linux is now being tested
Seislog system
Seislog is a general purpose data acquisition system running on different platforms. All system supports digitizers from 8-10 different manufactures.
QNX Seislog: In operation since 1995, support one digitizer at a time, records in Seislog format. About 100 currently in operation. No further software development.
Windows Seislog: In operation since 2000, supports several digitizers at the same time, records in SEISAN format, > 20 in operation.
WindowsCE Seislog: In operation since 2001, supports only one digitizer at a time, records in SEISAN format, > 5 in operation.
Linux Seislog: In operation since 2004, supports several digitizers at the same time, records in SEISAN format, 2 in test operation.
Old ED digitizer
3 Units in operation since 1995
One channel damaged in 9 years
Very stable
New ED digitizer
5 in operation in Norway since 1998
Stable operation, good S/N ratio
Several have been returned for repair
Sensitive to humidity, in Norway this has introduced instability in operation (1 s spikes, funny signals etc).
All are now indoors, which seemed to cure the problem
RS232 output will not work with a some PC’s
New ED digitizer in Guatemala, South Africa and Spain
Guatemala: Digitizers installed in field in well aired concrete houses, there has not been any problems since installation one year ago.
