MARSEXPLORATION PROGRAM

An oblique view of the mound in Mars Gale Crater showing several different rock types of interest to the Curiosity rover mission. This three-dimensional image was created using ‘visible-light imaging’ technology by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the High Resolution Stereo Camera on the European Space Agency’s Mars Express orbiter. The colors of the crater are created from color imaging taken by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera.
