Dear Parents/ Carers,
ROCKETING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MR PITT
Thank you everyone for another fabulous year rocketing around the school. The rocket will be traded in over the
holidays and next year I hope to have a new mode of transport. I visited every classroom and support based program at
Fairvale PS this year. I enjoy visiting classrooms and workspaces whenever I can but the ’rocketing time’ is special
because I am able to witness the great work everyone is doing and talk to the children about their learning.
STAFF NEWS
We say a sad farewell to some of our staff this year.
END OF YEAR CELEBRATIONS
It was great to see many families here over the last week for many of our end of year celebrations. Congratulations to
all our award winners and to the executive team for coordinating these events. I would also like to acknowledge the
attendance of Mr Guy Zangari, Member of Fairfield. Mr Zangari is a great supporter of the school and I appreciate the
support he gives to us. I would like to thank Fairfield RSL for their continued support each and every year.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
The end of the year means we say a sad farewell to some of our families in our school community, many of whom
have been here for 7 years and in some cases even longer. Best wishes to all for the future. Children, remember
work hard, listen to your parents and have loads of fun! On behalf of the staff at Fairvale Public School, I wish all of
our children and their families best wishes for a safe holiday season. Enjoy this time together with your extended
family and friends. For those in our community that participate in Christmas festivities—Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year to you all!
Looking forward to working with you all again in 2020.

items will be able to help families and
students over the next 12 months. Thank you
to everyone for donating and to Mrs Dean for

We have recently received very exciting news regarding competitions and exhibitions that students from FVPS have been involved in. Mysha Khan from Year 4 has recently won a competition where she designed a Thank you card for the Public Education Foundation. Please see her creative design below. Mare Iskandar in Year 4 also won another competition run by Fairfield Council and Project Art and her artwork is being used to decorate the walls of the children’s ward at Fairfield Hospital. Kenny Tran (Kindergarten), Eliza Thoeung (Year 3) and Angelina Al Bazi (Year 6) all had art work on display in the recent Operation Art exhibition.
So proud of these students and their achievements.

Last week we celebrated all of the amazing banner winners at our end of Term 4 PBL award winners party. Jess from the Footsteps Dance Crew came out and put on an awesome disco and dance workshop. The students had a great time learning lots of new moves and burnt up the floor with their own routines. It was so wonderful to see them all having such a great time. Congratulations to all of our banner winners for their hard work and effort.!

A fabulous day was had by all the students during our annual FAIR Day. This year the students were blown away
by the rides and loved every single one. They also enjoyed all the food that was on offer. I would like to congrat-
ulate all the students for the fabulous behaviour they showed on the day and we look forward to an even bigger
and better FAIR Day next year—plans are already underway.
At Tuesday’s K-2 Semester Celebration Assembly we
farewelled Mrs Helen Rigley. Mrs Rigley has had a very
long and successful career with the Department of
Education, and we have been lucky to have her at
Fairvale PS as an administrative officer for over twenty
years.
Mrs Rigley has been celebrating over the past month or
so, firstly we had a special staff farewell dinner. It was a
lovely dinner with Mrs Rigley’s family attending as well
as some former Fairvale colleagues.
At Tuesday’s Assembly, Mrs Rigley received flowers, a
farewell page from each class and a very lovely book
with a collage of the special farewell dinner. I was also
honoured to present Mrs Rigley with her official
retirement medallion for service to children. The final
surprise was a farewell video message.
We wish Mrs Rigley a long, happy and restful
retirement.
