POTLUCK
Dear St. Paul Family,
As I write this I am reminded that
Ash Wednesday is coming up on
February 18th and this will begin
our 40 days of the Lenten season
leading us to Easter Sunday. As
always we will be engaging in
different worship services which
will include traditional Ash
Wednesday, Evening Prayer on
Sunday evenings, and Holy Week
services including a service for
healing, Maundy Thursday, Good
Friday and Easter sunrise.
Our theme for this year is what I
like to call “potluck.” When we
come together at church for a
potluck meal, wonderful food is
prepared, brought and shared
which always works out to
include an excellent variety and
plenty for everyone to get their
fill. This year for Lent, St. Paul’s
will again participate in a round-
robin where I and other pastors
in Catawba County will present
a variety of themes ranging
from portrayal of biblical
characters, parables and other
stories and lessons from the
Holy Bible. This variety of
Lenten themes will come
together to point us to Christ
and His journey to the cross in
ways that will fill us spiritually.
In the near future you will
receive a purple brochure in the
mail which will outline this
potluck theme in more detail.
To kick off our traditional
observation of Lent, we are also
doing something a little
different by offering an early

No, this is not a National Lampoon movie, but the St. Paul WELCA Circles have almost as much fun as Chevy
Chase. Come to a meeting this month and join your sisters in Christ in a meaningful way. The Sunshine Circle
meets at 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall and the Sisters in Spirit meet at 6:00 PM in the Conference Room.
This month both meetings will be on Monday, February 9th and both Circles will be featuring a Valentine’s Day
theme. In 2015, the WELCA logo is a tree with many branches as we celebrate “Of Many Generations.” Come
and be part of the St. Paul “many generations.”
