We are celebrating our 11th
year in childcare.
Last month……….. Our children explored the cold and frosty weather, exploring rain, wind,
ice and snow.
Our children celebrated Australia Week. Emily comes from Australia so we
planned many activities for the children to learn about Australia and their culture.
We took part in Australian dancing, learning about their animals, making animal
masks, cooking and tasting Australian food and more.
Choochoos welcomes our new practitioners ….
Mia Smith - Working Monday, Wednesday &
Friday, Mia is our key time cover practitioner
who will be working in each room to relieve
the practitioners to complete their
paperwork.
Rachel Ormiston - Working Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday, Rachel is our
new practitioner joining the Caterpillar room
(2-3 years).
Mary Barry - working Monday to Friday,
Mary is our Lunch time cover joining our
Baby room (0-2 years).
Molly Balding—Working Monday to Thursday,
Molly is our full time practitioner joining our
Other Staff News……
Our Caterpillar room have welcomed back
from maternity leave, Jade Tumber
working Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
and Hayley Brazier, working on Fridays.
Staff Training….
Over the next few months our new staff
will be provided with in-house training
to help them to develop their practitioner
roles.
Our practitioners up dated First Aid
training in January.
In February staff training will include
Positive Behaviour Management and
Characteristics of Effective Learning.

Dates for Diary…
Tuesday 7th February to Monday 13th February - Story Telling Week.
Our children will be celebrating story telling week by
focusing on different stories throughout the week, making
their own props and visiting the library. All parents and
families are welcome to come in and read to our children
or take part in a story time.
Tuesday 14th February—Valentines day, we will be celebrating Valentines day by talking
about the ones we love and making items for them which they will be bringing home.
Week commencing Monday 27th February - Parents Evening, all parents/ families will be invited to
meet with your child’s key person to discuss their progress and development. Your input is important
to us in reviewing your child’s next steps. Your child's key person will also be asking for your input to
provide some evidence on post it notes. Please fill out and return the post it notes
to your child’s key person as soon as you can. Thank you.
Tuesday 28th February - Pancake day, we will be teaching the children about the
meaning of pancake day. They will be baking their own pancakes throughout the
week. Our children will also be visiting the bakery this week.
Choochoos Christmas closure dates for 2017/2018 are as follows: Our last open day is Friday
22nd December, we will be closed on Monday 25th December and will reopen on Monday 8th January
2018.
