Field Day in the Midwest Division
It's summer time, school's out, families are on vacation, and feature articles for the newsletter are scarce. In my last newsletter, I asked for photos of your field day activities that you would like to share in the newsletter. I received the following by the end of June. Enjoy!

2017 Nebraska QSO Party
Fred Eriksen, KB0LF Scoring for the 2017 running of the NE QSO Party in April has been completed. See www.qcwa.org/chapter025.htm for the details. There was a significant increase in the number of out-of-state entries this year, including 41 stations that were (over recent years) first time entrants. This despite poor band conditions due to the low Solar Flux. Some highlights are described below. Overall In-State was lead by Joe, W0DB, from Gretna. Joe edged out Bob, KC0JRW, from Kearny, and Darren, K0SZ, from Hastings. Thanks folks for providing some needed fixed NE stations. The Bellevue ARC, W0WYV, was the sole club entrant. BARC used the NE QSO Party to put on a club special event. They set up in the Pavillion of the Bellevue town park, and made it an NEQP event as well as an NE150 event celebrating Nebraska's Sesquicentennial. There were six In-State stations with digital contacts this year, a record number of entries. The group was lead with 78 digital QSOs by Darren Johnson, of Hastings, using his dad's call of K0SZ. That was followed by Bob, KC0JRW, from Kearney, with 61 digital QSOs and by Dudley, KD0NMD, from Bellevue with 19 QSOs. Finally among the In-State entrants, we would like to recognize Shawn, W0SST, of Valpariso, who is the only station (except for members of the sponsoring organization) who was a participant for each of the last five years. John, N6MU, from California, successfully defended his first place Out-of-State Overall finish from last year, and by a significant margin. Congratulations John for first place Overall this year, an Omaha Steaks gift certificate is on its way. Lonnie, W2RR, from New York State and Barb, N9NM, from Texas, complete the top three Overall Out-of-State. The out-of-state Rover category was dominated by Bob, W0BH, and Lorna, K0WHY, of Hesston, KS. They made the counties along the KS/NE available to everyone on Sunday. Great effort! Other Out-of-State entries of note were Ron, W4UT, from Tennessee running QRP, and Stefano, IZ3NVR, our only DX entrant.
