Sulzer delivers dewatering pumps for Zambian mine
ITT expands Industrial Process business
Sulzer Pumps has secured a
contract to supply 12 large
dewatering pump sets for a
copper mine in Zambia.
The contract covers the design,
manufacture, testing, packaging,
installation supervision and
commissioning of ten large high
pressure HPH pumps with
3000 KW motors for continuous
dewatering of the main shaft,
and two small medium pressure
HPH pumps with 800 KW
motors for emergency pumping
situations.

ITT Corp is adding a 75 000 sq ft
manufacturing facility and
expanding its current R&D labora-
tory at its Seneca Falls campus in
upstate New York to support the
company’s growth in the oil & gas
market.
The company will invest
US$22 million at the Seneca Falls
site, which is the global
headquarters of ITT’s Industrial
Process business and the largest
Goulds Pumps manufacturing
operation.
Construction work on the new
manufacturing facility is set to
start this spring and should be
completed by the end of the year.
Work on the R&D laboratory is
already underway and targeted for
completion by the second quarter
of 2013.

Weir signs £1.3mn contract with Boliden
Private equity fi rm BC Partners and
asset manager The Carlyle Group
have completed the US$3.46
billion acquisition of Milton Roy Co,
Sullair Corp and Sundyne Corp
from United Technologies Corp
and rebranded the stand-alone
Hamilton Sundstrand Industrial
business as Neodyne Industries.

businesses while we better posi-

Weir Minerals is to supply pumps
and equipment for a new mineral
processing plant in Garpenberg,
Sweden.
The new plant is being built by
Swedish mining company Boliden
and replaces an existing facility,
doubling capacity from 1.3 million
to 2.5 million tonnes of metal ores
per year.
Under a £1.3 million contract, Weir
Minerals will supply the majority
of the pumps for the plant,
including a number of diff erent
types and sizes to handle a wide
range of fl ow rates, pressure
requirements and slurry
consistencies.
Pump delivery will begin
immediately, with installation and
commissioning work scheduled to
take place between spring and
autumn 2013.

First orders for Franklin's new artifi cial lift productsFranklin Electric has received two
signifi cant orders for its recently
launched artifi cial lift pumping
solutions.
Exxaro, a South Africa-based
mining group that provided
several test sites for the products,
has placed an inaugural order for
seven complete pumping systems
for its Botswana Coal project, while
a strategic customer in the north-
western United States has also
placed an order for 14 systems.
Over the last two years, Franklin
Electric has been fi eld testing
artifi cial lift products in coalbed
methane, shale gas and oil-stripper
fi elds throughout the US, sub-
Saharan Africa and Australia. Origi-
nally developed for the coalbed
methane extraction market, Frank-
lin’s artifi cial lift systems use
submersible water pumping tech-
nology to de-liquefy gas wells.
