First Remote Deposit System Update
On Saturday, 6/22/2013, First Financials’ First Remote Deposit software is being updated. The update
includes improvements to security features. As a result, a small number of users may encounter web
browser messages indicating that their web browser requires download and installation of a few updated
browser ActiveX Add-ons (browser utility programs) for the updated system software to properly function.
This occurs if the web browser setting for ActiveX control installation is not enabled.
The installations take just a few minutes. The messages and installation steps are described below.
ActiveX Control Failed to Load Messages When launching the First Remote website after the system update and trying to make a deposit or print,
you may see the following message just beneath your Internet Explorer web browser toolbars:
The notification indicates that Internet Explorer requires the browser Add-on updates. There are three
ActiveX updates:
� Capture Control: enables capture function.
� CTI: controls scanner function.
� Print Control: enables print function.
Depending on your version of Internet Explorer, you will see a notice indicating that the website want to
run or install the add-on is needed. In IE 8, the message is atop the page:
In IE 9, the notification is on the bottom of the page:

Capture Control Active X Utility You may need to update this Add-on when first trying to make a deposit after the upgrade.
1. In IE8, click the “…website wants to run…” message and then click Run Add-on from the popup menu:
2. After the web site downloads the CaptureControlUtility.cab file, click the “…website wants to install…” message, then click Install This Add-on.
In IE 9, simply click Install:
3. In IE 8, click Retry to reload the web site.
4. You are then prompted to install the CaptureControlUtility.cab. Click Install.

CTI Control ActiveX Utility Next, the web site tries to install the CTI ActiveX Control Utility. Repeat the same steps as above for this
Add-on.
1. Click the “…website wants to install…” message and then click Run Add-on (IE 8). In IE 9, click
Install.
2. Click Retry in in IE 8 to refresh the page.
3. Click Install.
Print Control ActiveX Utility When first trying to print a report after the update, you may be prompted to download a Print Control
ActiveX file.

1. Click OK to clear the error message.
Follow the same steps as above to install the print Add-on:
2. Click the “…website wants to install…” message and then click Run Add-on (IE 8). In IE 9, click Install.
3. Click Retry in in IE 8 to refresh the page.
4. Click Install.
