Traditionally, this event is held the weekend before Thanksgiving and over the past several years has been hosted in Ocean City. This year, the plan is a little bit different. The Forum will be coming to a region near you! In an attempt to broaden the reach of the Maryland 4-H Volunteer Forum and provide an opportunity for more UME 4-H volunteers to become involved in the training opportunities made available, this year it will be held on one day in 5 regional locations: Allegany County Fairgrounds, Carroll County Extension Office, Bowie State University, Chesapeake College and UMES. All locations are held on the same date: Saturday, November 19, 2016. The day will begin with a morning of “connected engagement” (distance engagement to include a Program Leader address and guest speaker) followed by workshop sessions at each location (either through distance engagement or in person) presented by members of a 4-H Training Team and designed around the following topics: Club Programs, Camping Programs, Youth Activities and Subject Matter Specific Activities This event is open to all teens and adults, whether you are currently a UME 4-H Certified Volunteer, a parent that volunteers for your child’s club or is interested in becoming an active member of our growing volunteer corps. Registration is required and there is a $10 registration fee. Please visit the link below to register for the 2016 Maryland 4-H Volunteer Forum! There are six levels of the Diamond Clover Awards. The goal of the program is to encourage youth to continue to grow and accept new challenges as they gain more experience in the 4-H program. Each level requires a slightly higher level of participation. The expectations for each level give members a guide to assist them in planning their activities for the year. Once they master the new level, they are
recognized for their achievements by receiving a Diamond Clover pin. The final level, Diamond Clover 6, is the highest award a 4-H’er in Maryland can receive. It requires that the youth be active in their county 4-H program and also that they plan and conduct a significant community service project. For More Information: A summary of the requirement for each level is available on the State 4-H website at: http://extension.umd.edu/4-h/youth-families/awards-recognition Level 6 proposals are due each year by August 31 to be approved before starting your project.
