Community Banks
Through group work, Community Banks encourage savings measures which also make possible the use of solidarity loans to assist other residents. The goal is that such a savings system, which is always planned and voluntary, will lead each group to become independent of Nuestras Huellas.
The aim of our work is to enable entrepreneurs to become increasingly self-governing through the daily exercise of self-management.
Nuestras Huellas (Our Footprints) is a non-prot organization that has been working with communities in 9 districts of the northern and western region of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina, since 2007.
We promote the holistic development of people in their communities through solidarity nance programs. We foster participatory, ethically responsable action and self-management within the framework of a Social and Solidarity Economy.
We understand that when people come together in solidarity within their communities, they can improve their quality of life and become self-governing.

A principal tool of our work is the Community Banking Program, an initiative supporting over 1,000 small-scale entrepreneurs in the province of Buenos Aires.
What is a Community Bank?Is a self-managed neighborhood organization with a mínimum of 7 members per group and, in some cases, as many as 15 or more members, the majority of them women. The main requirement for participation, in addition to being willing to work with others, is being in the process of developing a business or having developed one recently. Each partner —as the community bank entrepreneurs are called— receives an individual line of credit, which can increase gradually and is guaranteed collectively. In other words, to receive it, the member must have the trust and commitment of the entire group. The loan may be used to strengthen the business itself or to make housing improvements.
Each Community Bank is coordinated by a
Management Team that consists of 4 partners.
Charges rotate.

We provide self-management training for our entrepreneurs in order to encourage them to move towards increasing autonomy. We oer group workshops in marketing, sales strategies, management and accounting, as well as community involvement and activisim, group work, citizenship building, and other skills.
We consider it essential to help strengthen the capacity of small enterprises to market their goods and services. We are therefore currently working to develop and support community consumer networks, with the aim of bringing entrepreneurs together to create connections, encourage residents to buy in their own neighborhoods as a way to support local businesses, and at the same time, to cultivate the values associated with the Social and Solidarity Economy.
