Notice is hereby given that sealed bids (clearly marked on front) will be received by the Arlington Fire District, 11
Burnett Boulevard, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 until 9:00 A.M., the 24th
day of June, 2019. Bids will be publicly
opened at that time for the purchase of uniforms. Specifications may be obtained at Arlington Fire District Headquarters,

SPECIFICATIONS FOR UNIFORMS
ARLINGTON FIRE DISTRICT
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Trade or brand names used in this specification are for the purpose of describing and establishing minimum requirements
of construction and shall not prohibit the bidding of other items that are of exact or superior standards. Bidders shall state
their intention to substitute with their bid proposal and provide sufficient supporting data to demonstrate equivalence.
Purchaser shall be the sole judge of the garment that is most advantageous and that decision shall be final.
Bidder shall be thoroughly familiar with the specifications contained herein. No additional allowances shall be made
because of lack of knowledge of this specification.
Bidder shall have or be an authorized distributor of a manufacturer who has in operation a factory adequate for and
devoted to the manufacture of the clothing specified herein. If garments are proposed other than of his own manufacture,
the bidder shall provide with proposal a certificate of compliance from the manufacturer that all items supplied meet all
requirements of this specification.
The successful bidder shall have the capability of providing the listed clothing and accessories. The bidder shall maintain,
on premises, a supply of awarded bid items for emergency purchase replacement. Such purchases shall be supplied in a
shorter time frame than the stated 30 calendar days, as described under DELIVERY.
Upon request of the District, bidding vendors shall make available to the District samples of any or all items to be bid, to
assure that items conform to the specifications contained herein and to that of existing station wear now in service.
Prior to ordering, successful bidder MAY be asked to supply sizing clothing in all available sizes. All sizing clothing will
be returned to successful bidder after order is placed.

QUANTITIES: Yearly estimated quantities of each item to be placed is included with this bid specifications. (See attachment #1).
However, each contract shall be for the quantities actually ordered during the contract period. The contract period shall
extend for one (1) year from the date of acceptance of bid.
DELIVERY: Delivery shall be made directly to Arlington Fire District Headquarters located at 11 Burnett Boulevard, Poughkeepsie,
NY, within a maximum of thirty (30) days from the date of issued purchase order. Delivery is expressed in the number of
calendar days required to make delivery after date of purchase order and shall be made in accordance with instructions on
purchase order. Any delivery charges must be included in the bid submission.
UNIFORM WORK PANTS:
Work Pants shall be Dickies® Item #874, Original Fit and Dark Navy in color. Work Pants shall be comprised of
heavyweight 8 ½ oz. twill of easy-care and 65% polyester / 35% cotton. The Work Pants shall be wrinkle resistant with
built in stain release, with a permanent crease. There shall be distinctive, longer tunnel belt loops, welt back pockets,
ratcheting brass zipper with a hook and eye closure. The sizing shall be made available in 26” to 72” waist sizing
variance.
UNIFORM WORK PANTS – (Administrative Only) Work Pants shall be Flying Cross® Men’s Polyester Cotton Trousers with Flex Waistband item #F1 47400 in Navy Blue.
Work Pants shall be comprised of 6 ½ oz., 65% polyester, 35% cotton twill with 1” wide belt loops tucked into waistband.
Lintrak permanent creases hook-and-eye with fully functional French fly. Inseams and out seams are neatly pressed for a
smooth finish with pucker-free seams.
UNIFORM WORK SHORTS:
Work Shorts shall be Dickies® Item #WR850, Flex 11” Regular Fit and Dark Navy in color. Work Shorts shall sit slightly
below the waist, traditional fit in seat and thigh, straight leg. Shall be comprised of 7.25 oz. mechanical stretch twill, 65%
polyester / 35% cotton. The Work Shorts shall be wrinkle resistant with built in stain release. There shall be multi-use
pockets. Must be able to accept embroidery.
Dark Navy Blue Shorts shall be embroidered with gray thread with “AFD” on the left leg. Embroidered font size shall be
1” x 2 ¾”, centered on left leg, 2” up from the bottom seam. (See attachment for font style - #2A).
UNIFORM SHIRTS - LONG SLEEVE (Mechanics Only):
Shirts shall be Lion® brand, item #1232 with the safety panel on the length of the buttons. They shall be constructed of
65/35 Dacron/Cotton twill, permanent press, acid resistant and have a soil release finish. Shirts have mitered breast
pockets with button down flaps and fused banded dress collar and cuffs. A panel shall cover six of the seven front buttons.
Shirts shall have full badge sling. Shirts shall be supplied in the color of midnight blue.
Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch (“Chicago Style”) sewn on the upper left sleeve. Shirts
worn by District EMT, Paramedic or Civilian Mechanic employees shall have a second Arlington Fire District patch
(Paramedic, EMT or Mechanic patch) sewn on the upper right sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the successful
bidder by the Fire District.

UNIFORM SHIRTS - SHORT SLEEVE – (Captains Only) Shirts shall be 5.11® Station Non-NFPA Class-A Short Sleeve item #46122 with Badge tab and Epaulette kit attached.
They shall be constructed of a 5.6 oz. 100% Cotton Twill and shall be supplied in the color of white.
Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch (“Chicago Style”) to be sewn on the upper left sleeve.
Shirts worn by District EMT or Paramedic employees shall have a second Arlington Fire District patch (Paramedic or
EMT patch) sewn on the upper right sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the successful bidder by the Fire District.
UNIFORM SHIRTS - SHORT SLEEVE – (Administrative Only) Shirts shall be 5.11® Station Non-NFPA Class-A Short Sleeve item #46122 with Badge tab and Epaulette kit attached.
They shall be constructed of a 5.6 oz. 100% Cotton Twill and shall be supplied in the color of white.
Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch to be sewn on the upper left sleeve. Shirts worn by NYS
EMT or NYS Paramedic employees shall have a second NYS Paramedic or NYS EMT patch sewn on the upper right
sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the successful bidder by the Fire District.
UNIFORM SHIRTS - SHORT SLEEVE – (Training Lieutenant Only) Shirts shall be 5.11® Station Non-NFPA Class-A Short Sleeve item #46122. They shall be supplied in the color of Fire
Medium Blue. Shirts do NOT have Badge tab and Epaulette kit attached.
Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch (“Chicago Style”) to be sewn on the upper left sleeve.
Shirts shall be embroidered with dark navy thread with “AFD” (1” x 2 ¾”) on the upper left chest (See attachment for
font style - #2B) and an embroidered collar bar (3/8” x 1”) in dark navy thread, placed parallel to front collar, shall be
embroidered on both right and left collars. Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch (“Chicago
Style”) to be sewn on the upper left sleeve.
UNIFORM SHIRTS - SHORT SLEEVE – (Lieutenants, Firefighters, Mechanics Only): Short sleeve shirts shall be 5.11® Professional Polo item #41060. Shall be constructed with 6.8 oz. 100% pique knit
cotton. Shall have no roll-collar with flexible collar stays, three button front placket made with melamine buttons, and a
drop tail hem with side splits. Must be able to accept embroidery and silk screening.
Shirts shall be supplied in the colors of Heather Gray and Dark Navy Blue. The sizing shall be made available in all sizing
variances, including regular and tall length.
Dark Navy Blue shirts shall be embroidered with gray thread with “AFD” (1” x 2 ¾”) on the upper left chest. (See
attachment for font style - #2A). Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch (“Chicago Style”) to be
sewn on the upper left sleeve. Shirts worn by District EMT or Paramedic employees shall have a second Arlington Fire
District patch (Paramedic or EMT patch) sewn on the upper right sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the
successful bidder by the Fire District.
Heather Gray shirts shall be embroidered with dark navy thread with “AFD” (1” x 2 ¾”) on the upper left chest. (See
attachment for font style - #2B) and an embroidered collar bar (3/8” x 1”) in dark navy thread, placed parallel to front
collar, shall be embroidered on both right and left collars. Shirts shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm
patch (“Chicago Style”) to be sewn on the upper left sleeve. Shirts worn by District EMT or Paramedic employees shall
have a second Arlington Fire District patch (Paramedic or EMT patch) sewn on the upper right sleeve. District patches
will be supplied to the successful bidder by the Fire District.

JOB SHIRT
Job shirt shall be 5.11® brand, item #72363 in Fire Navy color. Shall be authentic Storm Cotton Blend, 100% water
repellant, with a chest breakthrough pocket. Side seam hand warmer pockets with pen pocket on left sleeve. Job shirt shall
have 1/4”zip front and secure cuffs and hem. Job shirt must be able to be embroidered.
Arlington Fire District patch (“Chicago Style”) will be sewn on left sleeve. Patch will be provided by the District. An
approved insignia will be embroidered on left chest (3.8” x 3.8”) in white thread. (See attachment for insignia and font
style - #1).

BELT: Belts shall be Boston Leather® item #6582. They shall be of the garrison type. They shall be plain without lining and vat
dyed black in color. Fittings shall be solid brass, silver or gold in color and heavy duty nylon lock stitching. They shall be
supplied in one width: 1 ½” and various lengths.

JACKET & COAT:
HI-VIS Winter Coat
Winter Coat shall be 5.11® Responder Parka Hi-Vis, item # 48073. Shall be waterproof and breathable construction.
Shell is lined with fully seam sealed DuPont® laminated taffeta; must have upper and reflective tape/piping placement.
Shall contain abrasion panels at shoulders to provide grip for backpack straps; 3 way adjustable hood rolls up into collar
or zip off; must be resistant to blood borne pathogens; Double storm flap to keep wind and rain out. Exterior utility pocket
under storm flap; Back zipper access for imprinting details.
Arlington Fire District patch will be sewn on left sleeve. Patch will be provided by the District. Reflective “AFD” shall be
heat pressed on the back of the His-Vis coat.
Dickies® Insulated Eisenhower Jacket
Station jackets shall be Dickies® Insulated Eisenhower Jacket, item #TJ15. Shall consist of 65% Poly / 35% Cotton 8 oz.
twill shell with lining of nylon taffeta quilted to polyurethane foam for warmth and is non-removable Shall have
adjustable tabs at waistband and consist of a two-piece sleeve; one –button cuffs. Durable brass zipper front closure.
Must be available Dark Navy Blue in color; option of regular and tall lengths and be available in all various sizes.
Arlington Fire District patch (“Chicago Style”) will be sewn on left sleeve. EMT, Paramedic or Mechanic employees
shall also have a patch (EMT, Paramedic or Mechanic patch) sewn on the upper right sleeve. Patches will be provided by
the District.
Must be embroidered on left chest with “AFD” in gray thread and font size shall be 1” x 2 ¾”, centered on left chest, 2” in
from the zipper. (See attachment for font style - #2A).
WINTER HAT:
Winter hat shall be Carhartt® Acrylic Knit Hat, style #A205, available in Navy and Heather Gray. Shall be 100% acrylic
stretchable rib-knit fabric, beanie style and Carhartt® label sewn on the front.
Must be embroidered with “AFD” opposite the Carhartt® logo, in gray thread (for the Navy hats) and font size shall be 1”
x 2 ¾”. (See attachment for font style - #2A)
Must be embroidered with “AFD” opposite the Carhartt® logo, in navy thread (for the Heather Gray hats) and font size

BDU TROUSER:
Shall be Propper® BDU Zipper Fly Trousers item #F5205-38 in Dark Navy color. Must withstand hard use. Shall be
made with durable 65/35 Poly/Cotton Ripstop fabric. Shall be fade, shrink and wrinkle resistant with felled inseams, out
seams and seat seams for reinforcement. Zipper fly, six-pocket design with two cargo pockets that include button flaps;
two back pockets that include button flaps; drain holes in pockets and drawstring leg enclosures that seal shut.
TDU LONG SLEEVE SHIRT:
Shall be 5.11®, item #72002 Ripstop long sleeve TDU shirt in Dark Navy color. Shall be triple-stitch construction, with
individual bartacking at key stress points. Must have tough melamine buttons that won’t burn, crack or melt. Shall be
made with Poly/Cotton Ripstop fabric with a Teflon fabric treatment to repel liquids, stains, and soil. Shall include
bi-swing shoulder for wider range of motion.
Must be embroidered with “AFD” in gray thread on left chest. Font size for “AFD” shall be 1” x 2 ¾”. (See attachment
for font style - #2A) Employee’s last name shall be embroidered in gray thread on the right chest. Font size for last name
shall be .70” tall. Font type shall be supplied by the Fire District. (See attachment with example font for last names - #3)
“Special Operations” patch shall be sewn on left shoulder. Patches and a list of last names to be embroidered will be
provided by the District.
TDU SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT:
Shall be 5.11®, item #71339 Ripstop short sleeve TDU shirt in Dark Navy color. Shall be triple-stitch construction, with
individual bartacking at key stress points. Must have tough melamine buttons that won’t burn, crack or melt. Shall be

The following described Dress Blue Uniforms (Class A Uniforms) shall be bid as a single unit. Bid price shall be for a
combined coat/trouser unit.
DOUBLE BREASTED DRESS BLUE FIRE DEPARTMENT COAT WITH TROUSERS - OFFICERS
Dress Blue Fire Department coat shall be constructed of 14 oz. dac/wool serge material. The garment shall be fully lined.
The garment shall have a peak lapel, two (2) inside pockets with reinforcements, shoulder pads-full hymo canvas front.
Garments shall be made available in four button models (four rows consisting of 2 buttons each for a total of eight double
breasted buttons and shall have three buttons on the lower sleeve). Buttons shall be nickel or gold fire department buttons,
(according to Officer rank) as specified by the purchaser. Fire Department rank stripes (according to Fire Department
protocol) shall be sewn of the sleeves of the coat. Stripes shall be supplied in the colors of silver or gold, according to
rank.
Dress Blue Fire Department coats shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch sewn on the upper left
sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the successful bidder by the Fire District.
SINGLE BREASTED DRESS BLUE FIRE DEPARTMENT COAT WITH TROUSERS – NON-OFFICER Dress Blue Fire Department coat shall be constructed of 14 oz. dac/wool serge material. The garment shall be fully lined.
The garment shall have a peaked lapel, two (2) inside pockets with reinforcements, shoulder pads-full hymo canvas front.
The garment shall have four front nickel buttons and three nickel buttons on each sleeve.
Dress Blue Fire Department coats shall be supplied with an Arlington Fire District arm patch sewn on the upper left
sleeve. District patches will be supplied to the successful bidder by the Fire District.
CAPS Caps shall be the New York City bell style. Caps shall be made available in blue surge for Firefighters and white
naugalite for Officers. Caps shall be made available with gold or silver fire department hat buttons, based on rank. Black
rayon velvet hat band and/or gold or silver expansion “snake” straps shall be available for Officers and will be based on
rank.
TIES Ties shall be pre-tied, clip on style. They shall be constructed of woven, black 75% Polyester, 25% wool material. They
shall be supplied in medium or long lengths, as need dictates.
GLOVES Gloves shall be of the “parade glove” or “dress uniform” style. They shall be supplied in the color white. Sizes shall be
made available in all sizes: small, medium, large, and x-large. They shall have fastener snaps on the wrist area of glove to
hold the glove in place. Visible outside areas of the snap fastener shall be white in color.
DRESS SHOES
Dress shoes shall be Bates® High Gloss Duty Oxford in black.
