IN A WORLD OF SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS,
catching a criminal suspect on video isn’t much of a problem. For law
enforcement and homeland security, the real challenge is analyzing
the captured video. Often, the video is multiplexed beyond the average
system’s capabilities. Poor lighting, fog, smog, and haze often deny
officials the clear look of the suspect they need, and extracting a
usable still image can be next to impossible.
Not with Intergraph®’s patented technology. We have taken the
technology for video enhancement and analysis to a whole new level
of clarity, user-friendliness, versatility, and affordability with Intergraph’s
Video Analyst®. The product offers law enforcement and security
personnel an incredibly rich suite of tools – featuring Intergraph’s
unparalleled Image Registration technology – to capture, analyze, and
edit all types of videos with unprecedented detail and clarity. In fact,
Video Analyst is compatible with analog and digital video-capture
technologies, allowing it to not only translate any format, but also to
reveal in much greater detail objects and events contained within the
video footage.
Video Analyst offers another critical advantage: an easy-to-learn,
highly intuitive user interface. Running on the Microsoft® Windows®
operating system and built on commercial off-the-shelf video editing
software Adobe Premiere, you can be up and running with Video
Analyst in as little as a few hours. So whether it’s for law enforcement,
security, or general surveillance applications, when you need to clarify
evidence, Video Analyst gives you the absolute cutting edge of
excellence you need – without cutting deeply into your budget.

charlotte, north carolina, USa
A man was murdered in his home during a
robbery. Numerous witnesses described
the clothing that the suspected robber
was wearing, but not the individual. The
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested
several suspects, but questions still
persisted about who killed the victim
and who was wearing which clothing.
Prosecutors needed to connect one of the
suspects to the identified clothing on the
night of the murder.
During the investigation, it was determined
that the suspects were in a nearby
convenience store an hour before the
murder took place. Surveillance cameras
at the store captured the suspects on tape,
but the images were of poor quality and
too dark to make a positive identification.
Using Intergraph’s Video Analyst System the
images were deinterlaced, magnified, and
brightened, clearly revealing the identified
clothing and the suspect.
“Without this [video] evidence, we would not have been able to identify the triggerman.

advancing to meet the challengeS of modern video data collectionVideo Analyst continues to provide the
most modern techniques available to help
you meet the changing capabilities of
modern technology. As an example, our
most recent advancement in forensic video
analysis technology: Dehaze. Intergraph’s
revolutionary new patented technology for
removing haze from video can bring new
details into sharp focus. You may specify
an area of interest, rectangle, or ellipse, and
apply the haze removal only to the selected
area. You may also apply Brighten or Auto
Level to restore a more desirable light level
after the haze removal process. Especially
important for use in video that was captured
from unmanned aerial surveillance where fog
and haze may be an issue, this technology
allows you to bring greater detail into your
analytic environment. Intergraph remains
committed to keeping you up to date with
technology to meet the rapidly changing
landscape of today’s video collection advances.
