2.2.

Radi kvalitete i preciznosti reprodukcije, znak Sveučilišta nije dozvoljeno rekonstruirati (precrtavati, skenirati...) Vektorizirani znak nalazi se na elektroničkom mediju koji je sastavni dio Priručnika grafičkih standarda za oblikovanje vizualnih identiteta sastavnica.

The team was founded in 2014 by profes-sor Hrvoje Jasak at the Faculty of Mechan-ical Engineering and Naval Architecture inZagreb. We have 8 members working atthe Faculty and many associates acrossthe globe. The members of the team work-ing in Zagreb are:

Professor Hrvoje JasakProfessor Zeljko TukovicDr. Henrik Rusche, associateDr. Vuko Vukcevic, PostdocGregor Cvijetic, PhD StudentInno Gatin, PhD StudentRobert Keser, PhD StudentVanja Skuric, PhD StudentTessa Uroic, PhD Student

We are experts in various fields of com-putational fluid dynamics (CFD), develop-ing and using the open source packagefoam-extend for:

Naval hydrodynamics simulations– calm water resistance– general marine hydrodynamics (sea-

keeping, wave loading, self propulsion, manoeuvring, sediment transport andscour)

Turbomachinery simulations– centrifugal pumps– compressors– fans, propellers– wind turbinesExternal aerodynamics simulations– car aerodynamics– airplane aerodynamics: airfoils, wingsGeometry optimisationHVAC - heating, ventilation and air condi-tioning, coolingFuel cells simulations

The 13th edition of the School on Nu-merical Modelling of Coupled Problemsin Applied Physics with OpenFOAM(NUMAP-FOAM) is opened to graduatestudents, young researchers and industrialresearchers.

DescriptionThe School aims to provide tuition at ex-pert level for a small and selected groupof students and researchers in academiaand industry. The idea of the NUMAP-FOAM School is to expand the physicalmodelling knowledge, numerics andprogramming skills of attendees usingOpenFOAM in their research through di-rect supervision and one-to-one projectwork. Lectures on chosen topics of math-ematical and numerical modelling pertinentto coupled problems in engineering andapplied physics will be delivered in addition. To ensure quality of work and supervision, the number of places is strictly limited. For further references, please contact theorganisers or one of more than 150 alumniof previous editions of the School.

”OpenFOAM computational library is a powerful and complex set oftools, with a steep learning curve. The possibility of working with the(really) skilled developers, focused in specific objectives, is the best ap-proach to speed up any envisaged developments. Moreover, the inter-action with other NUMAP attendees, working in different areas, is also agreat way to enlarge ones skills in OpenFOAM. In summary I would saythat NUMAP School is the best way to significantly increase ones rate ofconvergence to OpenFOAM knowledge.P.S. I also keep very good memories from the trip done during the week-end...”Joao Miguel Nobrega, Summer School 2014PROJECT: Fractional viscoelasticity constitutive models

Place and TimeThe 2018 edition of NUMAP-FOAM shalltake place between Monday, 20th Augustand Friday, 31st August 2018, inclusive (10working days). The School shall be held atthe Faculty of Mechanical Engineering andNaval Architecture, University of Zagreb,Ivana Lucica 5, Zagreb, Croatia.

Topic AreasStudents are invited to propose their owntopics for the School. Preference shall begiven to projects which require complex pro-gramming tasks in OpenFOAM, advancedC++ and software engineering and imple-mentation of complex and coupled physi-cal models in OpenFOAM. Special topics forthis years Summer School are:

naval hydrodynamics, solidification / phase change, higher order discretisation methods.

How to ApplyTo apply, please write a one-page descrip-tion of the project you wish to work on, withcurrent problems and goals to be achievedat the School. Application is open to allstudents on graduate University courses,as well as young researchers in companiesand government organisations with suffi-cient prior OpenFOAM knowledge. Pleasenote this is NOT an introductory Open-FOAM course: significant understanding ofthe project and software is a pre-requisitefor application. Deadline for application is1st May 2018. Successful candidates willbe informed within three weeks of closing.

Accommodation and CostsAttendees to the School should plan tocover their travel and accommodation ex-penses, ideally bringing a laptop computerwith them. A registration fee for the Schoolis EUR 2000 per attendee.

Contact DetailsFor further details and submission ofproject proposals, please contact prof.Hrvoje Jasak at [email protected] local organisational details pleasecontact NUMAP-FOAM Secretary Mrs.Silvana Skoko-Gavranovic at [email protected].
