Dearparents/carers, WelookforwardtowelcomingthechildrenbackfortheSummerTerm.Despitetheextraordinarycircumstanceswefindourselvesin,wearedeterminedtodeliveracurriculumthatensuresourpupilscontinuetolearnandengageaslearners. ForthelasttwoweeksoftheSpringTerm,wemanagedtomoveourteachingandlearningtoGoogleClassroomandwewereoverjoyedtoseethatthevastmajorityofourpupilscouldaccessandwantedtoaccessthisonadailybasis,followingthetimetableandexpectationsweshared.Wecontinuedthecurriculumwehadalreadysetforthetermtoprovideconsistencyforourpupils. Now we have had time to listen to feedback and reflect on the successes, we have planned a summer termcurriculumwhichshouldmaximisetheimpactandlevelsofengagementduringtheperiodoflearningfromhome. Eachday,thefollowinglessonsandactivitieswillbeonyourchild’stimetable:

• Maths (1 hour) -we continue to followour scheme ‘MathsNoProblem’ and the childrenhave amathsbookandworkbookathometocompleteactivitiesin.Wewillalsoencouragedailypractiseofbasicskillssuchasnumberbondsandtimestables.OnFridays,wewillsettasksonMyMathstochecklearningfromtheweekorpractisecalculationskills.

• English(1hour)-thiswillvarybetweenactivitiesongrammar,punctuationandspellingskills,someshortormoreextendedwritingtasksandreadingcomprehension.InEYFS,Year1and2thiswill includeadailyphonicslesson.

• Readingforpleasure(20minutes) • Physicalactivity-eitheraPEactivityorsuggestedmovementbreak.WeencourageJoeWickseach

Acrosstheterm,thesesubjectswillbetaughtinthefollowingweeklyblocks:

Mondays will become ‘Musical Mondays’, where all year-groups will have singing assembly and musicianshiplessonsontheirtimetable. Wednesdays will become ‘Wondering Wednesdays’, where a philosophy activity will be set with discussionencouraged.

Duringeachweek, therewill bea suggested structureof activities and links to resources. Thiswill be set for thewhole-school and therefore expectations for outcomes andquantitywill bebasedon the age, time, support andresources available for each child. Each Friday, we will have a sharing day, where children upload pictures oroutcomesontoGoogleClassroomfortheirpeersandteacherstoenjoyandgivefeedbackon. Pleasealsolookoutforadditionalsubjectsandenrichmentsactivities,including:chess,computing,performingartsandspecialassemblies. ForfamilieswehaveidentifiedasnotbeingabletoaccessGoogleClassroom,weareprovidingpaperlearningpacksonaweeklybasis.Thosefamilieshavebeencontactedandatimetocollectpackshasbeenarranged.
