About Your Simulation Course
This program is designed to provide an
interactive experience in the management of
perioperative medical crises. Details of medical
management will be discussed, as well as
proper crisis management behaviors. This six-
hour course format includes a one-hour
orientation followed by a series of immersive OR
simulations. In each scenario, one participant
will act as the main anesthesia provider in the
management of a simulated perioperative crisis.
A second participant will be the person who
responds if help is required. Other participants
will play a role in the clinical scenario, such as
scrub tech or circulating nurse. Scenarios will
be recorded and reviewed immediately
afterwards. Before adjourning, each participant
will complete a practice improvement plan. 30
days later, the American Society of
Anesthesiologists will contact you with a follow-
up evaluation to complete MOCA ® part IV
Credit.
