According to the National Cancer Institute, inherited genetic mutations account for 5 to 10 percent of all cancers. Researchers have associated gene mutations with more than 50 hereditary cancer syndromes.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) offers a genetic counseling and testing program for individuals who may have cancer or are at an increased risk of developing cancer due to inherited genetic mutations.

OUR SERVICESCTCA® board-certified genetic counselors have extensive background in cancer genetics and:

• Provide a thorough review of patient and family medical histories to assess the possible risk of inherited cancer(s)

• Educate patients on genetics, cancer, as well as how family history impacts cancer risks and inherited cancer syndromes

• Counsel patients so they can make informed and empowered decisions about genetic testing

• Offer and coordinate genetic testing as appropriate

Should a genetic mutation be found through testing, CTCA genetic counselors will discuss personalized screening and risk-reduction strategies, as well as provide guidance on genetic testing for family members.
