WORLD HAND HYGINE DAY
In the month of April, 2015 we got an opportunity to make a LIFE-SIZED giant-puppet of
a “mascot” of WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY…
As a reference we got few photos from Dr Usha Dutta, Department of
Gastroenterology, PGIMER, Chandigarh
“STORY OF MAKING HAND
GIANT PUPPET”
We got few ref. images from
Dr. Usha Dutta..
Now, where to start & How to
start ???
Now, the challenge was to make a 6 feet x 6 feet GIANT Mascot Puppet…who can walk
around PGIMER & interact with masses about HAND-HYGIENE..
Let’s brain-storm.. The “HAND” had to be worn by a person for few hours..
& at PGIMER’s OPD it had to meet patients & their attendants..
So we had to make it with a little light-weight & with lots of ventilators for the puppeteer
to breath easily..
After lots of brain-storming..basic sketch was prepared.. Ratio, Proportion, weight
distribution, Head space..eye hole/window were designed.. But which material will be
best.. So we tried HITLON FOAM..
Now we needed an armature to hold the MASCOT Giant Puppet (6 x 6 feet) When
puppeteer will wear it, it will appear approx 8 feet x 6 feet from the floor.. So we needed
a holder quite strong & stable… also puppeteer had to shake hands with public… so we
needed some space for movement for the puppeteer..
Our sincere thanks to
